Mitchell Goldhar is the owner of SmartCentres, a private Canadian real estate development company focused on value-orientated shopping centres, which feature Walmart as the most prominent anchor tenant. SmartCentres is one of Canada's most active real estate development companies and has opened more than 250 shopping centres over the past 18 years representing over 47 million square feet of retail space.
Mr. Goldhar is also the largest shareholder of Calloway Real Estate Investment Trust, a publicly traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange with an enterprise value in excess of $5.8 billion. Mr. Goldhar is also a member of its Board of Trustees.
Mr. Goldhar is a supporter of many charities both in Canada and abroad, including Israel, which include the Hospital for SickKids, the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, the Israel Children Centres, United Israel Appeal and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Mr. Goldhar graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from York University and has lectured at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He is an avid sportsman, both as an observer and as an active participant.
