Maccabi Tel Aviv will take on English side Chelsea, Porto of Portugal and Ukrainian outfit Dynamo Kyiv in Group G in the Champions League group stages. Chelsea came from Pot 1, Porto were drawn out of Pot 2 while Kyiv was the club chosen from Pot 3.

The England Premier League Champion Chelsea will play Maccabi Tel Aviv in Champions League action as the clubs were drawn into the same Group G. The London side, who won their league title by eight points will be coming to Israel for the second time as they played Hapoel Tel Aviv in the UEFA Cup tournament back in 2001. Both Maccabi Tel Aviv Head Coach Slavisa Jokanovic and central defender Tal Ben Haim have played for the Blues.

Porto, the Portuguese League runner-ups from Pot 2 will also join Maccabi in Group G. The Dragons have not won their league title since 2012/13 and have finished in second and third place respectively the past two seasons. The club from the port city will play the Yellow-and-Blue in back-to-back matches, Matchday 3 and 4 with the first match being played in Portugal. One person who can certainly tell his club about Israel is coach Julen Lopetgui who won the UEFA Under-21 Tournament with Spain in 2013.

The third team Maccabi will be facing is Dynamo Kyiv.
