Maccabi Tel Aviv FC reached an agreement with Ferencvaros on the transfer of Gabi Kanichowsky, who will sign a four-year contract and wear the number 16 jersey.
Kanichowsky who celebrated his 29th birthday last week, returns to Maccabi Tel Aviv after spending the 2025/26 season in Hungary with Ferencvaros. During his spell at Ferencvaros, Kanichowsky won the Hungarian Cup, featured in their Europa League campaign, and made 21 appearances in European competitions, scoring a total eight goals in 56 appearances in all competitions.
Kanichowsky, is a graduate of Maccabi’s Youth Academy, Kanichowsky who made his senior debut in October 2015 before going on loan to Hapoel Petah Tikva and Hapoel Acco, returned to the club in the summer of 2021 from Maccabi Netanya.
During his previous four seasons with Maccabi, Gabi made 194 appearances in all competitions, scoring 27 goals and providing 46 assists. He also helped the club win five trophies: 2 League Championships (23/24 and 24/25), 2 Toto Cups (23/24 and 24/25), and the Super Cup (24/25).
Kanichowsky also featured prominently in Maccabi’s European campaigns, reaching the Europa League group stage once (24/25), the Conference League group stage twice (21/22 and 23/24), the Round of 32 once and the Round of 16 once.
Kanichowsky first joined Maccabi at the age of 16 and a half from Hapoel Ra’anana. He went on to make 76 appearances for Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘Shahar’ U-19s, scoring four goals, including a memorable strike against Dynamo Kyiv in the UEFA Champions League Youth League.
On the international stage, Kanichowsky has made 21 appearances for the Israel national team, scoring once as well as a goal in 15 appearances for Israel’s U21 and U19 teams.
