Dan Romann made several changes to the side that started on Saturday, with Adam Rosenbaum replacing Noam Levy in central defence, Yossef coming in for Noam Yaakov up front and Rony Haouzi starting on the left wing in place of Noam Azrane.

First Half

Maccabi created the first chances through Roy Gafni, whose efforts in the 8th and 17th minutes were turned behind for corners. Ilay Ben Simon also threatened after a counter-attack in the 25th minute, while Zürich’s Jill Stiel failed to hit the target with a counter-attacking effort late in the half.

Second Half

Zürich threatened early after the restart, but Slavko Vidovic missed from close range. Idan Trau then made two important saves in the 67th minute to keep Maccabi level.

Substitute Noam Azrane went close in the 72nd minute before setting up Ido Yossef six minutes later to put Maccabi ahead. Zürich pushed for an equaliser, and their pressure paid off in the 89th minute when Theophilus Kingsley levelled the score at 1–1.

Full-time: FC Zürich 1–1 Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘Shahar’.

The two sides will meet again next week in the return leg, with Maccabi looking to secure a place in the next round of the UEFA Youth League.
