NAC Breda win 1-0 in friendly

Maccabi Tel Aviv ended the first pre-season friendly match in Holland with a 1-0 defeat to Dutch side NAC Breda this evening (Saturday).

Patrick van Leeuwen’s charges continued their preparations for the forthcoming season which gets underway on July 22nd as they face the winner between FK Sutjeska of Montenegro and Georgian outfit FC Gagra. (The Montenegrian side have a 1-0 lead from the 1st leg as they travel to Georgia for Thursday’s return leg).

Head Coach Patrick van Leeuwen said at the end of the game: “After several days of training and an internal practice match, our players faced an opponent that opponent that wanted to play. It was a good test, we allowed all our players take part in different minutes of the game because we wanted everyone to play and see what they can do. We conceded a goal, and later created many chances both in the first and second half, but we were not accurate enough. It might have been due to the heavy load of hard work of the past few days, but I think we should have converted some of the chances”.
