In recognition of Maccabi Tel Aviv's recent claiming of the Israeli Premier League title, owner Mitch Goldhar was the honoured guest of Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai and Maccabi Tel Aviv owner Mitch Goldhar met this morning at the mayor's office at the Municipal Centre in Tel Aviv's Yitschak Rabin Square. The mayor congratulated Mr Goldhar and the club's supporters on their winning the nation's 2012/13 Premier League Championship and was delighted to receive from the club's owner a championship plate of his own. Mr Huldai also asked Mr Goldhar to pass on his great admiration for the team's sporting achievements to the club's management, the professional staff and of course, to all the Maccabi Tel Aviv players themselves.

Later the two men held discussions on future co-operation between the Tel Aviv municipality and Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club, during which the mayor demonstrated a surprising familiarity with the professional workings of the club. The mayor also expressed interest in the thinking of the club's management and professional staff regarding plans for next season and wished the club the best of luck in their future endeavours in European competitions.
