Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach Paulo Sousa will be joining a stellar list of former football greats headed by French legend Zinedine Zidane and Brazilian giant Ronaldo for a charity match whose proceeds will go to help the victims of the typhoon that devastated the Philippines last November and cost the lives of over 5,000 people. The match will be played on March 4th in Bern, Switzerland, under the watchful eye of legendary Italian referee Pierluigi Collina, whose resume includes no less than six World Cup finals. The list of football stars of the past participating in the match is long: Ronald De Boer (Holland), Steve McManaman (England), Robert Pires, Claude Makelele and Youri Djorkaeff (France), Jens Lehmann (Germany), Gaizka Mendieta, Fernando Hierro and Michel Salgado (Spain), Roberto Carlos (Brazil), Pavel Nedved (the Czech Republic) and Paulo Sousa's fellow countryman Deco. The match, sponsored by both the world and the European football governing bodies FIFA and UEFA, will be broadcast throughout the world and the proceeds will be donated to the aid campaign for the close to one million Philippinos who lost their homes in the disaster.
