French born defender Remi Mareval has joined Maccabi Tel Aviv from Belgian outfit Gent till the end of the season

30 year-old defender Remi Mareval is set to join Maccabi Tel Aviv from Belgian outfit Gent after signing a contract until the end of the season. Standing at five foot ten inches, the French born left-back has played the last four seasons in Belgium, at Gent and at Zulte-Waregem, after leaving French side Nantes, where he made 96 appearances between 2007 and 2010.
Jordi Cruyff told the official website: "I am delighted we were able to sign a player of Mareval's calibre and experience who can provide us with extra options across the back".
Mareval himself told the official website: "I would like to thank the people at Maccabi Tel Aviv for the warm welcome I have received and would be happy to be able to return the favour on the pitch. I am excited to be joining Maccabi Tel Aviv, a club which is well known across Europe. I heard about Maccabi from Shlomi Arbeitman and my agent who told me Maccabi are the biggest club in Israel. When I played for Gent in the group stage of the Europa League I played against Paulo Sousa's team Videoton so he knows what I can do. Right now I just can't wait to show Maccabi fans what I'm capable of".
