Maccabi Tel Aviv veteran midfielder Gal Alberman talked about the club's first official match: "We're beginning the path towards our goal that we have set for ourselves. The preparations were short but intensive and I believe that we are ready for the game."

After hearing about the praise heaped on Maccabi by the Hibernians coach, Alberman explained: "We have always been a club that believes in ourselves and we aren't looking to far down the road. We begin our way. All of our energies and planning were for this upcoming match and this is what we've done the last few years in order to come prepared and confident."

"There are two matches in front of us, one here in Malta and the other at Bloomfield Stadium which will be a huge advantage for us after not being able to play at home last year during the European competitions. We must make good use of this to big plus."

Alberman also talked about the Maltese opponent: "I think that the gap has started to close between clubs in Europe. Last year we thought we had an easy opponent in Santa Coloma but that wasn't the case and I feel that this will be the same story this time as well. We're coming into the match at full strength and we have to look at ourselves before we look ahead at our opponents."
