Vidar Kjartansson spoke to the Official Website following his side’s 5:0 win over Hapoel Tel Aviv on Matchday Five at the Netanya Stadium. The Icelander talked about out fitting into the team, lessons from Zenit and winning the match:

“We won and it’s fantastic and I’m happy for the fans. I met a bunch of people before the match and they said that of all the games we play we have to win this one this season. We were ready from the first minute and we scored early. All the credit to the boys.”

Scoring:

“I didn’t get many open chances, only a couple in the first half and then I was having trouble in the second half but I really wanted to score today and I took the ball and did it all by myself. I usually score inside the box, but this time was outside and it was a fantastic feeling to score from there. The second was good also.”

Lessons from Zenit:

“We learned from that game and it shouldn’t be possible to lose 3:4 when we were leading 3:0 with 12 minutes left. We learned that if we relax even if we are leading 3:0 we can lose, but I think the last three games was a pretty good answer.”

Fitting in at Maccabi:

“Definitely, I only had 2-3 trainings before the first game and they didn’t really know me but now we’ve been training together and perhaps it should’ve taken even longer but we are fitting really well together and we are playing more like a team. I know them and they know me better than before.”

A message to the fans:

“You did well today! Fantastic!”
