2013/14 Season: Hapoel Tel Aviv 2:3 Maccabi Tel Aviv
This may have been the most dramatic Derby that the city of Tel Aviv has ever seen. Eran Zahavi gave Maccabi the lead in the 34th minute, but in the 38th minute Rada Prica saw red and was sent off. Hapoel began celebrating as Omer Damari drew his side even and then took the lead on an 87th minute penalty. However, that’s when the real excitement began. Winger Tal Ben Chaim came into the contest and drew a penalty in the dying seconds as Zahavi converted the equalizer. Over? Not by a long shot. Deep into injury time, Orel Degani lost the ball in the middle of the pitch as Sheran Yeini sent Barak Badash on his way who laid the ball off to Zahavi. And what would you know, Number 7 found the back of Boris Kleyman’s goal for the third time on the last shot of the game. Right after the winner, Head Coach Paulo Sousa sprinted down the sidelines and Section 11 celebrated like there was no tomorrow.
