Eliran Atar successfully underwent a medical  before signing a two-year-deal at Maccabi Tel Aviv with an option to extend by further season.

Atar will be handed the number 16 Yellow jersey which was made available after Shlomi Azulay moved in the opposite direction to join Haifa as part of the deal between the two clubs.

The 30-year-old forward who spent the last 2.5 years at Haifa, returns to Maccabi where he scored 67 goals in 126 appearances in all competitions between 2010 – 2013.

Maccabi’s coach Jordi Cruyff told the clubs’ official website: “Eliran is a player who doesn’t need to be introduced to Maccabi’s fans as we know him and what can bring to the team and the club. We are just delighted to have completed the deal and would like to use the opportunity to welcome him back as well as thank Shlomi Azulay and wish him good luck”.

Atar, who won the League Championship with Maccabi in 2012/13 before being sold to French outfit Stade de Reims, added: “I am very happy and excited to return to Maccabi and I can’t wait to walk on the pitch again, meet my new teammates and the fans I love so much”.
