Veteran central defender, Tal Ben Haim looked back at his goal as well as Maccabi’s 2:1 win over Hapoel Raanana in the Toto Cup group stages. Number 26 discussed the importance of wearing the Maccabi jersey, improving match to match and how long it’s been since he last scored:

“I am very happy and it’s been a long time since I scored last which was against Tottenham in 2005.”

Defender’s job:
“As a central defender my job is not to give up any goals and if I do score it’s an extra in my opinion. I’m happy that I scored but they won’t rely on me to score as there are plenty of other players who are better and are there to do just that.”

Improving:
“We still have a way to go and we are just at the beginning of the season. Of course we are trying to continue to improve match by match. Thursday is a totally different story, a tough contest but we will be prepared.”

Importance of wearing the Yellow & Blue jersey:
“We have a big squad with a lot of quality players. We have played some very important matches in Europe and we’ve done the job so far. Today wasn’t an easy match as we already knew we had advanced. Every time you put on the Maccabi jersey you must give 100% and that’s what we did today.”
