Maccabi Tel Aviv FC reached an agreement with Brazilian giants Botafogo for the loan deal of Marcelo Machado dos Santos.

Maccabi Tel Aviv CEO, Ben Mansford, told the club’s official website: “Marcelo had a strong pedigree and further potential to realize when joining Maccabi last year.

This season we anticipated that a switch to Bnei Yehuda would gain Marcelo the minutes required to progress his development. Unfortunately those minutes haven’t materialized. However, such is Marcelo’s standing back in Brazil, he now has the opportunity to return to his country and join Botafogo on loan for the season with them having an option to purchase him. We will monitor Marcelo’s season closely.”

The 23-year-old central midfielder joined Maccabi Tel Aviv last year from Brazilian outfit EC Vitoria and has been on loan at Bnei Yehuda since the summer.
