Andreas Gianniotis, 190cm, who made 13 appearances in all competitions for Olympiacos last season, guiding the team to the Europa League group stage, joined the rest of the squad in their pre-season training camp at Horst Holland after successfully undergoing a medical and signing his contract.

Maccabi’s CEO Ben Mansford told the club’s official website: “Andreas was one of the most talented International Goalkeepers available across Europe this summer. Everyone at Maccabi is delighted that he saw becoming part of Maccabi as the next step on his already successful career. We are very impressed with Andreas from the moment we met him. Andreas is a grounded young man who has his very best years in front of him. Andreas is well known in Greece and has featured for the national side. Andreas spent time out on loan and was proclaimed the Goalkeeper of the Year in the 2016/17 season when Vladimir Ivic won the Coach of the Year award. I would like to thank Mitch for his continued support which enables us to attract players such as Gianniotis. Welcome Andreas”.

Gianniotis, joined Olympiacos as a 19-year-old and gained experience on loan at APO Fostiras and PAS Giannina before Olympiacos loaned him out to Panionios. The tall custodian was then voted keeper of the season at 2016/17 while similar success the following season at Atromitos earned him the best keeper award once again this time with another club. Gianniotis, who will wear the number 17 shirt at Maccabi, made 2 international appearances for the Greek national team and has 4 more appearances for his country’s U21 side.
