“The connection between the fans and the Israel National Team gives us the greatest satisfaction”

While the Israel Premier League Ligat Japanika is on the international and pitch winterization break, six Maccabi Tel Aviv players will take part in UEFA Nations League matches with their respective National Teams.

Dor Micha, Sheran Yeini, Eli Dasa, Dor Peretz and Dan Glazer will face Guatemala on Thursday night at the Netanya Stadium as well as a crucial UEFA Nations League contest at Scotland on November 20 at Hampden Park.

Keeper Predrag Rajkovic will be with the Serbia National Team for their matches against Montenegro on Saturday and Lithuania on Tuesday.

Ahead of Israel’s match against Scotland, Dan Glazer spoke about the importance of the fan’s support that will help the team as they look to finish in first place and earn a spot on the playoffs:

“The last couple of home matches against Scotland and Albania were fantastic and I felt for the first time in many many years that the fans wanted us to do well. There was a real connection between the team, the fans, the media and you could feel this on the streets. Everyone wanted us to succeed.”

Satisfaction:
“The victories were not only terrific but it gives us a very good chance to make it to the UEFA Nations League Playoffs should we get a good result against Scotland. We feel the excitement from the fans who stop us and say congratulations, keep up the good work. This gives us the greatest satisfaction that the Israeli people have come back to love the Israel National Team.”

Guys, here are 11 tips for a better life

Maccabi Tel Aviv is proud to take part in this year’s “Movember” events and activities as the club continues to raise awareness about Men’s Health issues. Dr. Olga Raz a clinical dietician from Hadassa Medical Center who works with the club shares some advice on how to keep a healthy life style.

When it comes to men’s health, one must first address some problematic habits that are still more common among men than women. These include smoking, drinking alcohol, maintaining an unhealthy lifestyle, not putting in the time for an annual medical checkup, eating unhealthy foods and more.

Other diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, heart disease, etc., can be prevented if they are discovered in time. How can you do this? By taking the time to go for medical examinations, medical treatment and keeping proper nutrition even before the disease appears. An annual checkup for example is designed precisely for that.

When it comes to eating healthy, it’s important to note that men need more calories than women when it comes to a relatively high proportion of muscle tissue in the male body. The percentage of body fat in men is relatively low compared to women for non-obese people. The differences are largely due to differences in hormones. The male hormone Testosterone is responsible for muscle mass and in order to maintain the muscle you need more calories and protein. When it comes to slimming and slimming diets, men usually get along better with a protein-rich diet than a carbohydrate diet, though Thai may not apply to everyone of course.

How to take care of yourself: 11 tips to improve Men’s Health

1. Maintain proper weight. Excess weight and obesity are risk factors for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancers and mental illness. In addition, significant obesity can cause a decrease in male fertility.
2. Eating food rich in fiber: vegetables, whole grains, pulses, whole bread, etc.
3. Try not to be hungry – do not delay meals, divide your food into a few smaller meals, eat before hunger appears. Large breaks between meal and meal can cause muscle breakdown.
4. Reduce the consumption of foods containing animal fats – fatty meat, fat dairy products and products containing them – burekas, cakes, cookies and the like. Avoid processed meat – sausages and the like.
5. Adding fats that are beneficial to health, such as olive oil and canola, avocado, tahini and so on.
6. Reduced amounts of salt.
7. Reduce alcohol intake to a minimum. It is not as healthy as previously thought.
8. Avoid sweet food – cakes, cookies, waters, snacks, sugary drinks.
9. Moderate exercise: The goal – at least 150 minutes per week.
10. Do a medical checkup at least once a year. Diseases can be prevented, one does not have to wait for their appearance. Colorectal cancer, prostate, heart disease and comprehensive blood tests, including testosterone are recommended.
11. Check vitamin D levels and if it is low, then take a supplement

Youth Academy Saturday Results – November 10, 2018

Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv (U19)
After drawing 1:1 in the Czech Republic against Sigma Olomouc in the first leg of second round UEFA Youth League action the Under-19 side will be on a 3-week break. The Israel Premier Youth League returns to action in December while the second leg will take place on November 28th at 17:00 at the Ramle Stadium.

Hapoel Rishon Le’Zion 3:1 Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv (U17)
Following a 5:0 win over Maccabi Herzliya last week, the Under-17 side fell for the first time this season on Matchday 10. The loss keeps the young Yellow & Blue in 1st place with a 6 point gap to second. An early goal by Shaked Navon wasn’t enough for Head Coach Eliezer Ben Aharon who summed up the contest: “This was one of those matches that had loss written all over it. Many of the players weren’t at their best and the result speaks for itself. We will have to learn how to do things better. We have a large staff that will look into why we had a performance like this. We are still in first place with a good lead which we have to maintain and increase. We will turn our attention to the next training session with the desire to learn and improve as the league goes on a two week break.”

Maccabi Petah Tikva 1:2 Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” (U16)
The Under-16 squad picked up another win against Maccabi Petah Tikva on Matchday 11 of league play. The young Yellow & Blue defeated the 2nd place side thanks to goals by Oral Azarzar and Ariel Belhassen just before the final whistle. Head Coach Eran Sassi summed up the dramatic win: “This was a very aggressive match by both sides. We played against a quick and technical team which made us spend a lot of time on the defensive side of the game which was good as the players returned to their positons and played tough defense. Unfortunately one defensive error ended up in a goal for the host’s and they took the lead. However, we knew how to comeback despite their lead and we played patiently until the end of the game and due to this we were able to get in a few good attacks which resulted in the winning goal in injury time. Congratulations to the players, I’m proud of them.”

Gadna Tel Aviv 0:8 Maccabi “Eldad” Tel Aviv
The Club’s Under-15 team maintained first place as they defeated Gadna on Matchday 9 of league play. Oskar Gluch x2, Ido Mizrahi x2, Lior Aloni, Nehorai Davush, Eliran Avisar and Amit Tzur scored for the young Yellow & Blue. Head Coach Ori David spoke about the win: “We played against a defensive team that had 10 players behind the ball which made the match move slowly and we had a tough time finding the back of the goal in the first half. However, in the second half we exploded and played fantastic football. The players who came off the bench made the difference and I’m happy about that as the team spirit won this game with a lot of support from the whole squad. I’m proud of the players.”

Atzily: “The brace was a bonus and I’m happy we did the job”

Omer Atzily who scored a pair of goals for Maccabi Tel Aviv, reflected back on the 2:1 win over Kiryat Shemona on Matchday 10 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Japanika:

“This was a very important win and everyone knows how difficult it is to play and win in Kiryat Shemona. The brace I scored was a bonus and I’m happy we did the job we needed to do. Now it’s onto the break and then the next match.”

The match:
“We came into the match in good shape and we deserved to win and I’m happy about it.”

Maccabi so far this season:
“It’s always a good feeling to go on break with a win and it’s a long season. It’s only November and no one wins the title after one round of matches. I hope we can continue on and do what we need to.”

About not being called up for the National Team:
“I don’t know why but I wish everyone the best. It’s always great to be on the National Team and hopefully the next time I will be.”

Disappointed about not being with the National Team:
“It’s always great to be on the National Team and I’m disappointed not to be able to play such an important match in Glasgow. But it’s ok, I hope that they’ll do well and that the next time I’ll be there as well.”
