“I think that every stage is more difficult and this is something that we have in front of us. We finished the first stage and the next opponent is Radnicki. They may not have the name but they are very difficult and strong team. We must be ready to give 100% in both games to make it past the next stage.”

The target:
“Our target is to win the game and play disciplined from the first to last minute. We want to give our best to get the best result. All of the players are ready.”

Playing the first leg at home:
“The first game is at home and I think it’s a small advantage. You play in front of your fans and I hope that we will have more fans than the previous game and more and more as each game goes by. We need the supporters to help us every game like they did last match. We want to have a good result and prepare ourselves for two games but we will need to see what will happen tomorrow. We prepared a week for this game and I’m sure we will be ready.”

The full squad getting playing time and Bersky starting against Ferencvaros:
“It’s a normal process for me to want to see all of the players at the club when I arrived and that started in the preseason. A lot of players are back after being on loan and some are also with us from the Under-19 side. I had three weeks to work with them before the first official game. I am happy with them all and not just Bersky. They are all important and we have a lot of games in front of us. We have three games coming up this next week and I’m sure many will play.”

About Radnicki:
“It’s the first time I am playing a Serbian club. They are the team who finished in third place and have been more organized over the last two years. They have a good coach and a number of experienced players. They will have a good season and will contend for the Serbian championship. We are professionals and you can’t be sensitive and have feelings for anyone.”

Maccabi are today delighted to announce midfielder Dan Glazer has signed a new three-year-deal with an option to extend by another season which should keep him at Maccabi until 2022.

Glazer told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to have signed a long-term contract at Maccabi Tel Aviv. This has always been my dream from the day I remember myself. I hope to keep on improving and making progress, achieve all the personal and targets of the club as well as the faith shown in me. From here onwards the burden of proof is on me”. 

Maccabi’s CEO Ben Mansford told the club’s official website: “We have been delighted with the way in which Dan has developed as a footballer and a person in recent years. Having come through the Club’s Academy, Dan is an example of our desire to bring players through from the Academy and into the first team. After gaining experience in the top flight last season, Dan has quickly made an impression on the new coaching staff over the summer and has performed excellently since rejoining the first team squad. Dan’s ability as a footballer is a given, what equally impresses me, is Dan’s strength of character and mentality. Those attributes, as much as his ability, will make him a standout performer of Maccabi.” 

Glazer, who came through Maccabi’s Youth Academy, spent last season on loan at Maccabi Netanya where in his debut season playing top flight football scored one goal in 28 league appearances and a total of 33 in all competitions.  The 20-year-old central midfielder has been a regular in various Israel age groups through the years and has a total of 53 international appearances including 7 for the Under 21’s where he plays now.

Glazer captained Maccabi’s U-19’s team during their Youth Champions League campaign. His first team debut appearance came back in August 2014 against Netanya in the Toto Cup before adding two more Toto Cup appearances the following season. Glazer then joined Beitar Tel Aviv Ramle in February 2016 and during his 18-month loan-spell with the second division side, Glazer, scored twice in 44 appearances in all competitions.

Maccabi Tel Aviv will play their first Israel football match of the season when they host Beitar Jerusalem in the Toto Cup European Club match at the Netanya Stadium on Sunday July 29, 21:00 and tickets are now on sale.

Hozez, who will turn 22 next month, signed a new three-year-deal with an option which will keep him at the club until 2022.

Hozez told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to have signed a contract extension at the club I grew up. This was my ultimate target from the day I joined the youth department at the age of six. Now all I am left to do is justify the faith shown in me and prove to the coach that my place is at Maccabi Tel Aviv”.

It gives me great pleasure to announce today that Matan has committed his long term future to Maccabi. Matan was always a stand out performer for the Maccabi Youth Teams. In recent seasons Matan has continued to develop and progress through certain loan moves culminating with his very successful period at Bnei Yehuda last season. Matan finished 17/18 as one of the most exciting attacking players in the Premier League. This contract recognizes Matan’s progression and rewards him and his family for all of the effort he has put into his journey so far. I look forward to seeing Matan continue to drive forward at Maccabi”.  

The talented winger emerged from Maccabi’s youth academy before being loaned to Beitar Tel Aviv Ramle for the 2015/16 season. Enjoying his first taste at senior level, Hozez scored 11 goals in 29 appearances for the second division side. At the end of that season in July 2016, Hozez made his senior competitive appearance for Maccabi against Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Toto Cup. He then joined Hapoel Ashkelon on loan and in his first season playing top flight football, Hozez scored 3 goals in 23 appearances. Last season Hozez continued his progress on loan at Bnei Yehuda where he scored 6 league goals in 35 appearances and a total of 41 in all competitions which paved his way back to Maccabi’s senior squad.

Hozez made 8 appearances for the Israel U21’s as well as 8 more appearances for the U19’s for which he scored 4 goals.

Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Radnicki Nis in the second round of Europa League qualifying on Thursday at the Netanya Stadium (20:00) and today Monday, the Yellow & Blue found out that they will play the winner of Tobol Kostanay from Kazakhstan and Pyunik from Armenia should they advance to the third round.

Just like in the previous two rounds, Maccabi Tel Aviv will be seeded in the UEFA Europa League draw due to their European performances in prior campaigns. The first leg of the 3rd round will take place on August 9th while the return leg will be played on August 16th.

As the Club was at their Netanya hotel ahead of the Ferencvaros match, Head Coach Vladimir Ivic told Ruslan Barsky that he would be in the Starting XI. This was the midfielder’s first match since August 2012 when he made his official Yellow & Blue debut against Maccabi Netanya in the Toto Cup.

Ivic: “It’s on to the next round”

The midfielder who returned to the Club after 6 seasons of being out on loan, assisted on Eliran Atar’s winning goal and looked back at the match from his point of view:

“I found out I would be in the Starting XI in the afternoon when the coach told me and that I should start to get ready. Of course I was thrilled to have the opportunity and I’m happy that we won and played well.”

Taking advantage of having the chance to play:
“The coach is really giving every one of us a chance. Any player who is giving his all in training, I’m sure will get an opportunity. I’m happy that I got a chance to play against Ferencvraos and I grabbed the opportunity with both hands.”

Improving slowly but surely:
“This was our second official match and we want to continue to improve slowly but surely. It was important for us to advance to the next round and I’m happy we did so. Now we have to turn our attention to next week.”

Living the dream:
“Every player who grew up in the youth department dreams of playing with Maccabi in Europe and in front of all of our fans. I want to continue playing quality football and keep improving with the Club.”

Returning from loan:
“The players that returned from loan are all talented and can help the Club. I believe in every single one of them. There’s no question that going out on loan helped me tremendously.
