Prica: “The atmosphere was simply brilliant”

Maccabi Tel Aviv players arrived at the Kiryat Shalom training camp this morning in great spirits after Sunday night's 5-0 home triumph against Hapoel Beer Sheva returned them to the top of the table. Before the match the club held a ceremony honouring one of Israel's veteran sports personalities, the broadcaster and writer Danny Dvorin, son of the late Arye "Lunia" Dvorin. Dani retired at the beginning of this month after a record 42 years of broadcasting thousands of club and national team matches for the Reshet B radio station of the national broadcasting system Kol Yisroel. The club also celebrated the 93rd birthday of Baruch Azari, who is still a regular at all the first team home matches and at the youth team matches every Saturday.

 

Getting back to Sunday night's match, head coach Oscar Garcia had this to say to the official Maccabi website at the end of the game:  "We were determined to score and that's important, lots of players scored, we created a lot of chances and this was the result."

 

Maharan Radi, who netted his fourth goal of the season, added:  "This was a great match for all the units on the pitch, I think that first goal really got us started and helped us improve as the match went along. And no one is happier than me that everyone was able to get in on the scoring and be involved with the assists."

 

Rade Prica, who made his debut and was involved in creating two of the goals, was exuberant:  "The fans were just brilliant and it was a real pleasure to play for them"
