Maccabi Tel Aviv captain Sheran Yeini and defender Yoav Ziv will continue to play their football with the league champions

With the beginning of the new season and the first match in European competition just weeks away, Maccabi Tel Aviv FC continue to firm up their squad. A giant step in that direction was taken yesterday when two of the team's key defenders, captain Sheran Yeini and Yoav Ziv, committed themselves to taking their place in the front lines of the team's efforts to repeat the success of the 2012/13 championship season.

Yeini, who rose through the ranks of the Maccabi Tel Aviv youth system, made his maiden appearance for the senior squad in a Toto (league) Cup match against Bnei Sakhnin in the 2004/2005 season. Last season he shone as captain of the Maccabi team and even raised the Championship plate after the title-winning match against Ironi Ramat Hasharon last April. Yoav Ziv arrived at Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 2010 after returning to Israel from a season at K.S.C. Lokeren in the Belgian Jupiler (Premier) League. In the past he has also played for Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Haifa, Hapoel Nazareth Elite and Beitar Jerusalem.
