The first league Tel Aviv derby of the 2014/15 season ended in disarray after just 44 minutes when fans from both clubs invaded the pitch following an incident involving a Hapoel Tel Aviv fan and Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Eran Zahavi. The sides were drawn 1-1 when the incident occurred, after Hapoel midfielder Moshe Ohayon converted a Mohammed Abu Alhija cross on 16 minutes, followed six minutes later by an Eran Zahavi penalty awarded for a foul in the area on Maccabi striker Rade Prica. On 34 minutes a supporter of Hapoel Tel Aviv entered the pitch and attacked Eran Zahavi, who attempted to fend him off. After the supporter was removed by security guards, Zahavi was shown a red card by referee Reinschreiber, leading to strenuous protests and a temporary suspension of play. Several minutes later the match was resumed but additional pitch invasions by supporters of both clubs made further play impossible and match officials resolved to bring the match to a conclusion.
