This morning the draw was held for the season 2014/15 Israeli Premier League fixture schedule. Maccabi's season opener – away at Maccabi Petach Tikva

This morning at the Herodus Hotel in Tel Aviv the draw was held for the season 2014/15 Israeli Premier League fixture schedule. The League Management, responsible for the draw, chose one of seven options, all designed to accommodate the various other circumstances, such as holidays and other local and international competitions, that occur throughout the season. After opening statements, the draw itself was held and produced variant 1, which has Maccabi Tel Aviv opening their season on August 23rd at the "Moshava" Stadium to play Maccabi Petach Tikva. In matchweek 3 Maccabi will head south to face last year's second-in-command Hapoel Beer Sheva and a week later they'll host Maccabi Haifa at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv. The first Tel Aviv derby will take place in matchweek 7, with Hapoel Tel Aviv playing host. Beitar Jerusalem will visit Bloomfield in the penultimate match of the first round of thirteen Premier League fixtures. The final week of round one will bring Maccabi back to the "Moshava" Stadium to face Premier League new boys Hapoel Petch Tikva.

The Premier League season will finish later than we've grown accustomed to in recent years, with the last matches of the top-six playoff being played on the 30th of May next year. This late closure is the result of four international breaks plus three national holidays, all of which begin on Saturdays.
