Maccabi Tel Aviv will host the home leg of their Champions League 2nd round tie against Santa Coloma in Cyprus

On Wednesday the European governing body UEFA announced that in light of the security situation Israeli clubs participating in European competition would not be able to host their home matches in Israel. The announcement went on to call upon those clubs to act in accordance with the directive and make arrangements for alternative venues. Maccabi Tel Aviv have decided to host the home leg of their Champions League 2nd round tie against Santa Coloma at the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium, home of Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta FC in Larnaca.

In light of this situation, the club have also resolved to transfer the benefit for season ticket holders of a free ticket to the home leg of the second round to the parallel match in the third round. This of course on condition that Maccabi advance to that round and that the home leg may be played in Israel. UEFA have announced their intention to continue to review the decision to require Israeli clubs participating in European competition to play home legs outside the country in accordance with further diplomatic and security developments.

The match against FC Santa Coloma is scheduled for Tuesday July 22nd and will begin at 8.30pm Israeli time. Ticket sales will begin starting today at the website of the "Leaan" ticket agency at a cost of NIS 55. Tickets will also be available at the Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium ticket office for the price of NIS 50 (€10). Tickets bought online will also be distributed at the local stadium ticket office in Larnaca starting two hours prior to kick-off. A photocopy of your passport will be required to collect your ticket.
