In the background of racist comments made to an MTA player at Kiryat Shalom training ground, owner Mitch Goldhar sent a personal message to all Maccabi fans

"Hatred, intolerance or abusive behaviour against anyone on the basis of their race is malicious and morally corrupt. A Jew as racist is perverse. Racism at large is not my specific responsibility, though I will stand strongly against it. But to the extent racism visits upon any individual or organisation for which I am specifically responsible, particularly at Maccabi Tel Aviv, I will use every instrument and resource available to me to protect them. Racism will be met with rebuke and forceful deterrent. We will not tolerate racism at Maccabi Tel Aviv. I have instructed legal council to take all steps necessary to identify and prosecute any individual involved, directly or indirectly with racist behaviour affecting Maccabi Tel Aviv. Further, any individual involved with racist behaviour of any variety is at odds with Maccabi Tel Aviv FC principles and thus by definition cannot be a supporter or fan of our team.

I know this is a difficult time and I appreciate all extra efforts invested by the players and the staff and the meaningful support of hundreds of fans who are coming to support the team in Cyprus".
