Nikola Mitrovic is delighted to have been named league management's January player of the month, but he's already looking ahead:  "We have still a lot of hard work before us"

Nikola Mitrovic will most certainly be happy to remember the start of 2015. Together with all his Maccabi team-mates, the Serbian midfielder celebrated winning the "Toto" League Cup and later the Tel Aviv derby that catapulted Maccabi back up to the top of the Israeli Premier League table. On a personal note January was also a month to remember for the three goals he scored, the first in the "Toto" Cup final, the second the match winner against Ashdod FC and the third a cracker that settled the score at the Tel Aviv derby. Mitro's reward came last Monday, when before the team's home tie against Ironi Kiryat Shmona he was awarded the Premier League management's January player of the month citation.

Reacting to receiving this prestigious award, Mitrovic said to the official Maccabi Tel Aviv website: "I would like to thank everyone for voting me as player of the month for January. I would like to dedicate this prize to my teammates and the fans who help and support me all the time regardless of how far we play". Nikola was keen to stress that even though the award was personal, for him it was a clear indication of the team's achievements as a whole: "Although this is a personal prize, for me it's a collective effort and without everyone pulling together in the same direction winning prizes will not be possible".

Despite his obvious satisfaction with the award, Mitro is not resting on his laurels: "January is not enough for me or anyone at Maccabi so we have still a lot of hard work before us starting from Haifa on Saturday and then Kiryat Shmona on Wednesday, so Yalla Maccabi!"

The following clip, a selection of the best of Nikola Mitrovic in the month of January, amply demonstrates why he is more than worthy of the award he received:
