This morning Eran Zahavi was named captain of Maccabi Tel Aviv and will replace Sheran Yeini who moved to Vitesse. The club will also continue to use other senior players in the squad as captains when necessary.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is happy to announce the appointment of Eran Zahavi as captain and although he will wear the captain's armband other senior players on the squad will be used as captains when necessary.

Zahavi (27 years old) will begin his fourth season with Maccabi Tel Aviv as he joined the club during the 2013 transfer window from Italian side Palermo. In his first season with Maccabi in 2012/13, he appeared in 18 matches, scoring eight goals while assisting on four others helping the team to the league title.

However, this was only his opening act! In the 2013/14 season Zahavi scored the most goals ever in a single season by a Maccabi player with 29 league goals and 35 goals in all competitions while winning his second championship in a row. 

Zahavi played a central role in helping the Yellow-and-Blue to the Treble this past season while playing as both a midfielder and a striker. He set the consecutive match scoring record, notching a goal in 17 straight games while scoring a total of 38 goals in all completions and 28 in the Ligat Ha'Al.
