Shota Arveladze, the Yellow & Blue Head Coach spoke at the prematch press conference prior to his Club’s Europa League match Thursday evening in Alkmaar. The Georgian boss spoke about tomorrow’s game, Haris Medunjanin’s time in Holland and the feelings he had returning to one of his former club’s:

“It’s good to be back here. As soon as I came in I felt the warmth on my heart. You can see that the Club knows how to honor it’s former players just by looking at the walls. It’s always great and when I stepped on to the pitch many memories came rushing back. I want to than Alkmaar for these wonderful times and as I said, it’s good to be back.”

More on his return:

“The first time I was here it was as a player and we won almost everything. We scored a lot and played terrific football but we ended up losing the Cup final. But God is wonderful and he didn’t forget me as I returned here to win a title as an assistant coach.”

About Haris Medunjanin:

“I remember some of the goals Haris scored here. He was here because he was an excellent player and he had a bright future ahead of him and now he’s here to help me play good football.”

Concerning the match:

“It will be a good game. The culture at both AZ and Maccabi is quite similar. Offensive minded teams that like to play forward and attack just like they enjoy in Holland. Both teams need to win and that will lead to a fantastic match tomorrow.”
