Maccabi Tel Aviv will soon discover its first European opponent of the 2026/27 season. The draw for the Europa League 2nd qualifying round will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
Maccabi’s European journey continues, and thanks to the club’s UEFA coefficient ranking, Maccabi will enter the draw as a seeded team and will be paired with one of the unseeded sides. The 2nd qualifying round matches are scheduled to be played on July 23rd and July 30th.
Among Maccabi’s possible opponents are Beşiktaş, Twente, Tromsø, St. Gallen, Hammarby, Dynamo Kyiv, Sheriff Tiraspol, Hajduk Split and CSKA Sofia.
Advancing from the 2nd qualifying round would move Maccabi one step closer to reaching the Europa League league phase. If eliminated at this stage, Maccabi would drop into the Conference League qualifiers.

The Europa League will continue to use UEFA’s new competition format in the 2026/27 season. The league phase will feature 36 teams, with each club playing 8 matches against 8 different opponents.
The top 8 clubs in the standings will qualify directly for the Round of 16, while the teams finishing 9th to 24th will compete in a Playoff round for the remaining Round of 16 places. Teams finishing 25th or lower will be eliminated from the competition.
