Bnei Yehuda 0:2 Maccabi Tel Aviv (U19)
Just ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Youth League match against Sigma Olomouc, the Under-19 side defeated Bnei Yehuda 2:0 on Matchday 10 of the Israel Youth Premier League. Bar Cohen’s 70’ goal and an own goal in the 80’ handed the young Yellow & Blue the 3 points and the win as they remain in 2nd place just 1 points off the top of the table leaders Maccabi Petah Tikva. Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv 5:0 Maccabi Herzliya (U17)
After a two week international break for European Championship qualifying, the Under-17 side was back in action on Matchday 9 of league play. The victory gives Maccabi “Oded” an 8-point lead over the second place team. Shaked Navon and Tal Torjman scored braces while Yonatan Imberg scored a lone marker in the win. Head Coach Eliezer Ben Aharon summed up the contest: “We were able to get into the match well from the first minute and we controlled and pressured Herzliya from the get go. We only went into the break with a one goal lead because we couldn’t finish. However, in the second half we were able to finish our chances and as the Herzliya players tired we were able to score more goals near the end of the match. This was the first time we played a 90 minute game which is a change top make our matches comparable with the Under-19 and First Team games. This will better prepare the players as they continue to advance. Next week we play at Rishon Le’Zion and we will do everything in our power to make sure that that match will be similar to our last few.”
Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” Tel Aviv 2:0 Maccabi Ahi Nazareth (U16)
The Under-16 squad took home the win on Matchday 10 thanks to goals by Ariel Balhassen and Elad Kaplan. Head Coach Eran Sassi spoke about the victory: “We are playing well as the players are controlling the pace of play as well as being more responsible on the pitch. We were able to create good scoring chances in both halves but we couldn’t finish and made some questionable decisions. The players are young and I hope that their decision making will improve match by match which will allow us to make the games easier.”
Maccabi “Eldad” Tel Aviv 5:1 Ironi Modiin (U15)
After a big win over Hapoel Beer Sheva last week, the Under-15 squad continued their fine play by defeating the Modiin club. Maccabi “Eldad” remains in first place thanks to goals by Oral Bahia x2, Ofek Nedar, Yonatan Solonicki and Roie Tolchinsky. Head Coach Uri David discussed the win: “We had good minutes throughout the match but they were scattered throughout the game. Modiin played a defensive style of game and it took us time to figure out how to beat them. I really enjoyed seeing the players who came off the bench in the second half and made a big difference playing simple quality football that allowed us to score some very nice goals.”
Outstanding Etgarim Member Yuval Peri Awarded Medallion of Honor
The cooperation between the Maccabi Tel Aviv FC Foundation and Etgarim continued this past Saturday right before the start of the match against Bnei Sakhnin as striker Chico Ofoedu presented a medallion to Yuval Peri.
Yuval is wonderful individual we special needs. He has been a member of Etgarim for four years and participates in long distance running, his favorite being the 10km run. Yuval recently participated in the Israel Championships for 10km and set a personal best record. In addition, Yuval takes part in the sailing team and has done so for the past 3 years. He is part of the Maccabi Youth Organization and has begun volunteering as an assistant sports teacher at the Misgav High School. He is also the president of the student council at his school as well.
On Tuesday December 12th, Etgarim will be holding a special evening marking 23 years of programming and activities. Ivri Lider will provide the entertainment that evening and should you want to make a contribution please click on the following link.
Etgarim is dedicated to enabling children, youth and adults with disabilities to realize their potential, to expand their abilities in all areas of life and to integrate them into the community through outdoor sports. Etgarim was awarded a degree in effectiveness and social contribution and an honorary doctorate from Bar-Ilan University.
Maccabi to face Beitar Jerusalem in the State Cup Round of 32
Maccabi Tel Aviv was drawn to face Beitar Jerusalem in the Israel State Cup tournament Round of 32. The Yellow & Blue will be one of the 14 Premier League Ligat Japanika teams that will join the competition in the Round of 32 which will take place between December 20-14. In addition, there will be 13 Leumit League clubs, 4 Ligat Alef sides and one Ligat Bet squad for a total of 32 teams.
Last season the Yellow & Blue played Bnei MMBE in their first State Cup contest and won 3:0 at the Netanya Stadium. However, Maccabi was eliminated by Maccabi Haifa in the Round of 16 at Sammy Ofer Stadium.

Ticket Sales Kiryat Shemona Away Match
Maccabi Tel Aviv will at Kiryat Shemona on Matchday 10 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Ha’Al on Sunday November 11th at 20:15. Tickets are now on sale, so come and cheer on the Yellow & Blue.
Please Note: This match is part of the Points Allocation System and season ticket holders will receive 3 points for this contest while non-season ticket holders will receive 1.5 points. Make sure that when tickets are purchased via the Leaan Website, telephone or Leaan Ticket Office the season ticket number is used in order to receive full points. Should the purchase not be done by using the season ticket number points will not be allocated.
Should a ticket be purchased and the fan doesn’t attend the match, there will be no refunds and no points will be allocated.

Kandil: “At this rate I’ll keep my mustache for a while”
Maor Kandil, the Yellow & Blue defender spoke about his side’s 3:0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin on Matchday 9 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Japanika:
“It’s my second league game and it’s great to be able to score a goal. I hope that we can continue how we are playing as we have good momentum. Every time a get a chance to play, I’ll grab it with both hands just as I’ve done to date.”
Playing closer to the goal during corner kicks:
“I had asked the coach during the week if Could play closer to the goal on corner kick situations and I’m happy that it worked out. I am thrilled to have scored my first goal and I hope that it will continue.”
Concentrating on each and every opponent:
“We are focussing on ourselves and every match is important. We work hard preparing for each and every match as we concentrate on our opponent. We want to move forward and the results will take place as the campaign continues on.”
All for one and one for all:
“We support each other and we have a great dressing room. We have a deep squad and everyone is waiting for their chance and they work hard just to get into the squad, putting aside the Starting XI. All for one and one for all.”
Preparing match by match:
“Nothing has changed since last week. We are just looking at the next match. The gap can close very quickly. And we are just concentrating just in ourselves. We have to be ready to go.”
Competing for playing time:
“I’m happy that I am competing against a player like Eli Dasa for a place to play. That way I can improve and I consult with him before the matches to see what kind of tips he can give me. I will keep working hard and take advantage of the chances that I get.”
Movember month:
“At this pace I’ll keep my mustache for a while as it gives me luck throughout the month of November which is the Movemebr month where we focus on Men’s Health issues.”
Ivic: “We finished the game how we wanted to”
Vladimir Ivic, the Yellow & Blue Head Coach looked back at his side’s 3:0 win over Bnei Sakhnin on Matchday 9 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Japanika:
“I believe we started well and we played against an experienced team that came to play a counter attack game with many players behind the ball which makes it difficult to score. But we were able to create chances and we controlled the game. We finished the game how we wanted to.”
The importance having many players scoring this season:
“It means a lot. It’s important to score and for all of the players, from the last line, the middle and the front. As well as keeping a clean sheet.”
The championship:
“No one takes a championship in November and we have a lot of games in front of us. We have to prepare game by game.”
Yeini: “Focussing on ourselves is the best method for us”
Maccabi Tel Aviv captain Sheran Yeini summed up his squad’s 3:0 victory win against Bnei Sakhnin on Matchday 9 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Japanika:
“I don’t think we are cruising. We are working very hard every match and we have to be careful from the other teams of they open it up and try to counter attack.”
Playing as a team, scoring and the Movember month:
“We play as a team and we are really playing together, supporting each other. It was fun to score and I did so when I played in Holland. We all have our mustaches as it’s November and it’s Movember to make people aware of Men’s health issues.”
Match by match and concentrating on themselves:
“Maccabi Tel Aviv always focusses on itself as we have done over the past number of years. That’s the best method for us. But no club takes a title at the start of the season. We want to be in the best position possible. Right now we have 23 points and we are just thinking about how we will get to 26 and we aren’t looking at any other clubs.”
Maccabi defeats Sakhnin 3:0
Maccabi Tel Aviv recorded a 3:0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin on Matchday 9 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Japanika. A first half goal by Maor Kandil via a header plus second half strikes by Sheran Yeini in the box and an Eliran Atar free kick gave the Yellow & Blue the win and the three points. Next Sunday, November 11 at 20:15, Maccabi will travel up to Kiryat Shemona for a Matchday 10 contest.
Head Coach Vladimir Ivic’s Starting XI included keeper Predrag Rajkovic, Maor Kandil, Shahar Piven, Sheran Yeini (C), Enric Saborit, Dor Peretz, Eyal Golasa, Dor Micha, Omer Atzily, Chico Ofoedu, Itay Shechter.
Available on the bench were Haviv Ohayon, Jair Amador, Aaron Schoenfeld, Eliran Atar, Avi Rikan, Ofir Davidzada, Dan Glazer.
First Half
Maccabi looked to find an early goal as Kandil tried to beat Sakhin keeper Mahmoud Kandil from the right side but he made the save in the 2’ while Atzily tried his luck from 40 meters out that clipped the bar and went out.
In the 14’ Peretz tried his luck from outside of the box but Kandil made the diving save while two minutes Atzily launched a left footed missile that hit the outside netting on the right side of the goal. Kandil had a header chance off an Atzily corner but his attempt just missed the left post and went out as the match remained goalless.
Sakhnin had their first chance of the contest in the 30’ when Ghadir received a perfect through ball, but Rajkovic made the save to stave off the threat while 5 minutes later Atzily’s chance just went by the left post and out. However, after a 35’ corner, the ball went back out to Atzily near the left corner flag who crossed it into the box that Kandil headed home for a 1:0 Maccabi lead.
Just before the break Maron Gantous had a brilliant chance from outside of the box but Rajko made the alert save to keep Maccabi in the drivers seat with a 1:0 lead after 45 minutes.
Second Half
The Yellow & Blue began the half looking to add to their lead and add to their lead they would in the 51’ thanks to the Captain. Yeini scored off a rebound due to Saborit’s effort in the box to double Maccabi’s advantage to 2:0. In the 61’ Eliran Atar came on for Ofoedu as the host’s looked to increase their lead.
And just four minutes later that’s exactly what they did as Atar slammed home a gorgeous free kick from 20 meters out at Ivic’s side took a 3:0 into the final 25 minutes of play. Avi Rikan was introduced in the 73’ in favor of Micha and ten minutes later Aaron Schoenfeld entered the contest for Golasa as Maccabi freshened up the attack.
Atar had a brilliant chance in the 85’ but Kandil made a terrific instinctive save to keep the score as is as Maccabi took the win and three points. Next Sunday, November 11 at 20:15 the Yellow & Blue will head north for a Matchday 10 clash at Kiryat Shemona.
