General Public Season Ticket Sales for the 2018/19 Campaign are Underway

Maccabi Tel Aviv FC is happy to announce that season tickets for the 2018/19 season will go on sale this evening Sunday July 8th at 19:00 to the general public via the Leaan Website. Beginning tomorrow, Monday July 9th, Season Tickets will also be available by telephone *8780 and the Leaan Ticket Office located at 42 Frishman Street, Tel Aviv.

Playing with the Big Boys: Daniel Peretz’s Experience with the First Team

Training sessions for the Maccabi Tel Aviv “Avi Cohen” Youth Academy 2018/19 season will get underway this coming Saturday as the Under-19 and Under-17 teams will be the first representatives to get back onto the pitches. The Maccabi “Shachar” keeper, Daniel Peretz began training a few weeks ago when he went with the First Team to their preseason camp in Poland. After returning to Israel, Peretz spoke about the experience from the hard work, to the terrific conditions and the opportunity to train with the First Team as he looks to help the Under-19’s win the League Championship for the second straight season.

Summing up the experience of attending the First Team training camp in Poland:
“From a professional point of view it was a very challenging experience and the level of the training sessions were very high. The professional conditions at the camp were excellent from the schedule, nutrition, workout room, ice baths etc…I felt as if I advanced and improved.”

About being an Under-19 player and the youngest in the camp:
“This was actually my second camp where I was the youngest and last season I was trying to figure out how I would fit in. This year, I came into camp much more confident and from a professional standpoint I improved tremendously from last year. On a social level I also felt much more a part of the team and that was due to the players.”

The advantages of having the opportunity to be a part of the training camp:
“I didn’t take it for granted and personally it was very important for me to train with the First Team as it gives me an indication as to how I am compared to the other players at this level. It gives me a taste as to what it’s like to be a professional with conditions that aren’t available anywhere else, along with a professional staff and facilities at a very high level. Every little thing was an experience in itself at the camp.”

Being more prepared for the upcoming campaign:
“I feel that I am well prepared for the new season. Firstly, I am coming with more experience than last season as we went through a lot last year with the Youth team. I also feel that I have improved physically, mentally and professionally. In my opinion, the fact that I started the season a month ago is an advantage.”

Expectations for the new season:
“As a Club we are part of Maccabi Tel Aviv and that means we strive for every available title. The first expectation is to win the league championship again that we won last season. Also, this year we will begin playing Champions League qualification matches and we want to go as far as we can. We want to take the State Cup this season after we were eliminated early on last year and we are very motivated to bring the trophy back home. On a personal level, I’d like to continue to be a part of the First Team and to also let in fewer goals.”

Maccabi defeats Beitar Tel Aviv/Ramle 6:0 in Friendly

Maccabi Tel Aviv continued preparing for the new season as Vladan Ivic’s squad defeated Beitar Tel Aviv/Ramle 6:0 in a friendly at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom.

The Yellow & Blue began the match well and took a 3:0 lead into the break thanks to a brace by Vidar Kjartansson and a lone strike by Avi Rikan. The second half saw more of the same from Maccabi as Matan Hozez scored and Eliran Atar added a brace for a 6:0 victory.

On Thursday the Club will play its first official match of the 2018/19 season when they visit Ferencváros in Budapest, Hungary for the opening leg of their Europa League First Round Qualifying tie.

Maccabi Tel Aviv held an evening session at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom after returning to Israel from their preseason training camp in Poland yesterday. Keeper Predrag Rajikovic who was with the Serbia National Team at the World Cup and Captain Sheran Yeini who had a baby boy on Wednesday, rejoined the squad as Head Coach Vladan Ivic continued preparations for the Club’s first official match of the 2018/19 season next Thursday against Ferencváros in Budapest, Hungary.

Legends Club: Andrejs Prohorenkovs

History in Short
Andrejs Prohorenkovs was one of the most significant strikers at Maccabi Tel Aviv during the early 2000’s. The Latvian marksman arrived at Kiryat Shalom in time for the 2002/03 season after playing with Macabi Kiryat Gat who were relegated at the end of the prior campaign.

In his debut match in Yellow & Blue, Prohorenkovs helped Maccabi defeat Levadia Tallinn 2:0 in the UEFA Cup competition. The striker also scored a number of important goals in his first season with the club, helping them pick up the league title. One of the Latvian’s most critical goals was against Maccabi Haifa at Kiryat Eliezer at the start of the second round of matches.

After heading into the break all knotted up at 1:1, Prohorenkovs scored to give the Yellow & Blue the lead in a match that would end in a 3:2 win against their chief rivals for the championship. In the second matchup between the two, Prohorenkovs also scored an important goal with a quarter hour left in the contest to give Maccabi a 1:0 lead on the way to a 2:0 victory. On the last Matchday of the season, the Latvian again broke the ice against Hapoel Petah Tikva when Prohorenkovs scored in the 63’ at a sold out Ramat Gan Stadium on the way to a 3:0 win that locked up the dramatic championship.

The following season, Prohorenkovs only made his debut in February due to an injury and in 15 league matches in the 2003/04 campaign the Latvian recorded 4 goals to help Maccabi finish 2nd on the table good for a place in the Champions League Qualifiers. At the end of the season, he appeared for Latvia at the 2004 European Championships in Portugal and received an offer to play for Dynamo Moscow at the end of the tournament. After half a season, Prohorenkovs returned to Maccabi following the Champions League campaign in 2004/05. The Latvian added three goals in Yellow & Blue and also won his second title with Maccabi when the club took home the State Cup on penalties against Maccabi Herzliya.

Top moment
The goal by Prohorenkovs against Hapoel Petah Tikva on the Final Matchday of the season was extremely critical, but near the end of the campaign he scored another important goal when Maccabi hosted Maccabi Haifa at Ramat Gan Stadium. The Latvian’s header made all of the difference helping the Yellow & Blue to a 2:0 win moving the club that much closer to the league title. WATCH:

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s 2018/19 Poland Training Camp came to an end after this morning’s training session at the Club’s preseason facility by the city of Gdansk. Vladan Ivic’s side will make its way back to Israel and continue preparations for their first official match against Ferencvaros from Hungary in the first round of Europa League qualifying.

Dor Peretz who will begin his 5th season with the Club, summed up the last ten days, looked ahead to the match against the Hungarian outfit and also spoke about his own personal goals for the upcoming campaign:

“The Training Camp was very intense and it was a chance for all of the players, the new ones, the players who returned from loan and the new staff to get to know each other. We still have plenty of work to do and we know that we have more hard work ahead in order to reach our goals for the upcoming campaign. We are learning what the new coach wants from us and we have to follow his instructions, continue to train hard and that’s what we did here in Poland.”

About the match against Ferencváros:
“We will give our all as it’s our first official match and it’s important for us to begin the season the right way in order for us to reach our goals.”

Expectations for the upcoming season:
“I expect to continue my fine play from the second half of last season, improve and raise the level of my play so that I can help lead the team. I’d like to be a main cog for the squad and make sure that we can reach our targets for the season.”

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s new Spanish recruit, left back Enric Saborit sat down to discuss a number of topics from his special love, to what the fans can expect to his first few days at Maccabi:

Enric Saborit’s First Interview

“When I received the offer from Maccabi, the first thing I did was check out the city of Tel Aviv, Israel and Maccabi. I knew that Maccabi is a good and strong club.”

Getting used to his new surroundings:
“I’ve acclimated fairly easily since arriving. My teammates have been terrific and the staff has been welcoming also. I’m very happy as to the way everyone has treated me since I’ve arrived.”

What the fans can expect:
“The fans are getting someone that loves the game, that likes to attack, take advantage of opportunities and helps the squad. I’m sure with all of that, the fans will be very satisfied with me.”

His expectations for the upcoming campaign:
“My expectations for the upcoming season is to help the club reach the Europa League Group Stages, win the championship, which I know is important to Maccabi. That’s one of the reasons I came here, to win the championship.”

Playing together with Jair Amador:
“I didn’t know Jair Amador beforehand, but when I understood that he had signed with Maccabi I spoke to him and he said that he was very happy with his first few days at the Club. I’m sure that when we play together on the left side we will be able to understand each other very well.”

His love for dogs:
“I love animals, especially dogs. I hope that I’ll be able to bring my dogs to Tel Aviv from Bilbao and that we can enjoy outings together.”

Ferencvaros Ticket Sales Away Match

Maccabi Tel Aviv will officially begin the 2018/19 season at Ferencvaros in the first round of Europa League qualifying. The match will take place on Thursday July 12th at 19:00 Budapest time (20:00 Israel time) at the Groupama Stadium in Hungary and tickets are now on sale.

Please note:

  • Tickets for this match are available in advance ONLY. Tickets will not be on sale at the stadium as per the Hungarian Police and Security Services.
  • Maccabi supporters are permitted to purchase one ticket per person with the name of the purchaser printed on the ticket.
  • Tickets can be collected at the stadium next to Section E two hours ahead of the match.
  • In order to pick up the ticket, the order confirmation must be presented which was received after the order was placed. In addition, the Teudat Zehut ID Card associated with the purchase and a passport copy must be presented. Tickets may not be purchased for another person.
  • A Maccabi supporter that arrives at the match and is not on the list of ticket purchasers (if the ticket was purchased for someone else) may not pick up the ticket and will not be permitted to enter the stadium.

Tickets are available via the Leaan Ticket Office located at 101 Dizengoff Street, Tel Aviv, by phone *8780 and on the Leaan Website.

Youth Academy Coaching Staff for 2018/19

The Maccabi Tel Aviv “Avi Cohen” Youth Academy will get back to business during the month of July as they begin to prepare for the 2018/19 campaign as all of the age groups will begin training for the new season. The coaching staff is complete as veterans and new faces alike will help take the youth teams to new heights this coming season under the direction of Performance Director Patrick van Leeuwen.

Youth Academy Training Dates:
July 14 – Under-19 & Under-17
July 23 – Under-16
August 1 – Under-15 & Under-14
August 13 – Under-13 through Under-8

Training Camp in Bulgaria:
Under-19 – July 23-29
Under-17 – July 24-30

After winning the league title last season, the Under-19 side will continue to be led by Head Coach Guy Tzarfati and his assistant Nissim Dvash. The Under-17 squad will again be headed by Eliezer Ben Aharon and Jeffery Yishai who will be in is second season with the club as the team will look to keep the league championship at Kiryat Shalom. Eran Sassi will be the new Head Coach of the Under-16 side in his first season with the club while Ben Kaplan will be his assistant coming from the ranks of the Under-15 teams. Ori David will continue with the Under-15 side while Eliran Mizrachi will join him after spending last season with the younger age groups.

Performance Director Patrick van Leeuwen spoke about the upcoming season: “We made a number of coaching changes in the Academy. Not so much changing coaches but changes in which the coaches will have new challenges to cope with. For example, there are some coaches who will now be head coaches for the first time and others will be assistants for older age groups. We will continue to move forward in the Academy and will give the maximum to the kids as there will be two coaches on the pitch at all times. This is how we will work at the Academy including with the younger age groups, both at Kiryat Shalom and at the University. This way we will be able to continue to develop players both on team and individual levels.
