The HP building was colored in yellow and blue for the festive event. Maccabi’s CEO Martin Bain spoke about the partnership:

“HP is a global brand with many values, though dynamic is a key word, because we at Maccabi, feel that as a club, we will continue to improve. We believe that as a business we need to be more dynamic and part of our development strategy is to invest in the digital side of our business. When we decided to enter into discussions with HP, we realized that there was synergy between HP and Maccabi Tel Aviv and together we believe that some of the objectives we’ve set in our agreement will be of huge benefit for both parties. I wish to thank all the individuals who helped bring this partnership to fruition. The players who are here today know that success on the pitch helps drive success off the pitch. Together, we are united as treble winners to make sure we continue our success on and off the pitch and this morning is illustrative of that”

Amos Gabay, supply chain and procurement director at HP and Indigo added: “We would like to congratulate the club, the management, the players and the fans on the historical treble. We have been impressed with the Mr. Goldhar’s leadership and with the professionalism of the staff. We share mutual values such as professionalism, teamwork, integrity and of course the desire to win. This partnership is a connection between two teams- the national champions and most decorated club in Israeli football and HP, a world champion in the field of print and digital. We will use our tools to deepen the connection between the fans and the team and will develop new products”.

The players toured the factory and even received special prints and products in honor of their title win.

“It’s part of our duties at the club and we do it with pleasure. It’s a very good event and it is a worthy partnership", said Zahavi, who also spoke about the contract extension: “I said all season long that I am happy here and the contract extension proved it. I chose to stay and I did what I think is right for my career. I met with Mitch Goldhar and Jordi Cruyff and they shared their vision on the club’s future. After the meeting I realized that I want to be there as well. The financial option is good but not everything. I haven't given up on Europe. If something comes up, we will work on it together. I am very happy with my decision. I feel appreciated here and I’m enjoying the football”.

Zahavi on his next goal: “We are not hiding the fact that we need to get into the Champions League. The club deserves to be in the Champions League and there won’t be any excuses this time”.

Zahavi commented on his impressive numbers this season: “I’ll be happy to make the same numbers next season. I never lower my expectations. These numbers are not typical for a midfielder but the team objectives are always more important. It’s a bonus to do well individually, as long as the team does well.”

Sheran Yeini’s special press Conference

Maccabi Tel Aviv captain, Sheran Yeini, held a press conference where he spoke about his anticipated move to the Netherlands and looked back at his time at the club

“I am happy I had the opportunity to stay and to go through an amazing season with my friends. Winning trophies gives me great pleasure, but I don’t think that we won enough in my ten years here. I hope that this team will continue to win more trophies.

There were a few personal reasons for not leaving earlier, but now I feel that it is a good time to move on. I haven’t imagined yet my last day here. I am sure that we’ll have an enjoyable evening with the players”.

Yeini spoke about his development as a player and as captain at the club:

“I developed late. I went through a learning and development process in my career. At first I thought I knew everything and I ended up seeing the gaps between the way I see myself and the way others see me. My wife helped me understand a few things about myself and we worked to improve them. I feel that I am more valued now at the club and that I improved as a player because of the work I’ve done.

As a captain, I developed during the unsuccessful years here. Over the years I picked up on things that were not good for the team, spoke to the foreign players and gathered a lot of information on how to do things better for the club. It helped me when I captained for Moti Ivanir and Oscar Garcia. The team right now has a good foundation. The dominant and veteran players help out their teammates and act as role models. I am confident that the next captain will continue in the same way”.

On the things he learned this season

“I learned a lot from Pako Ayestaran. Working with him improved my thought process and my risk analysis skills. The club as a whole is very stable today. Mitch, Jordi, Martin, and Jack are all terrific people. I have a great relationship with them and we share the vision that the club should always be one step ahead of the rest”.

On Vitesse’s interest

“Their scouts first saw me last year against Kiryat Shmona, when we won the league. They liked my performance and my interaction with the crowd and kept in touch with my agents Gilad and Ronen Katzav. They did a very thorough job scouting me and it gave me a lot of confidence. I also met with the coach when I visited Arnhem and learned about his football vision.

It is hard to decide to leave when you are happy. My drive to challenge myself and prove that I am good enough to play in Europe helped me decide to make the move. I wanted to find out if I can adapt to a new culture and to a new type of football.

I know that they are planning to use me as a defensive midfielder but I’ll play anywhere they need me to”.

On the new challenge

“Part of the challenge is to find out if I can make it there. I have no problem working hard. It will take time but I am up to the task. I’m looking forward to being an ambassador of Israel and of Israeli football. It is important to show that Israeli footballers can be hard working and intelligent”.

On the transformation in Maccabi Tel Aviv in recent years

“The thing that makes it different is professionalism. The GPS trackers, for example, were brought in by people who are professionals in the field and know how to train us and to structure our sessions. We are aware that there are building blocks to progress.

Another ingredient was working less with the media. We appreciated the journalists’ work and opinions, but I have my coach and teammates’ opinions and that is enough”.

On the club’s turning point

“It happened when Mitch arrived and wanted the club to express its Israeli and Jewish identity. He was with us in every moment during the first year. I remember negotiating my contract with him while playing basketball with each other. He is building an empire here and he does it by bringing the right personnel and allowing them to work”.

On almost leaving Maccabi

“When I arrived to the U-19s team I found out that the coach didn’t want me in the squad. After a little while he called back and told me to come to training and prove my place. I later found out that Benny Tabak had a say and influenced the decision to bring me back.

Another story is when I tore my ligament and despite that Loni Herzikovich gave me a five-year contract before the surgery. There were many nice gestures during the years. The relationship between Maccabi and me developed over the years.

On the decision to leave

“Deciding to stay could have been worthwhile for many reasons. I ended up meeting Martin and Jordi and told them that I don’t want them to convince me to stay because I wanted to challenge myself. Martin told me to go to Vitesse to check them out personally before I decide. I don’t think that another club would give a player such an opportunity”.

On the relationship with the fans

“I have a really good relationship with them. There is always criticism but I do my work quietly. We built a dynamic where there is an open line of communication between the fans and me. At the championship game Eran Zahavi and I felt that the energy at the stadium was a little low, so we texted some fans and they were able to energize the rest of the stadium and the team. Our fans amazed me on two particular occasions: the first, when they sang to me on my birthday in Jerusalem. The second time was when a few individuals cursed Maharan Radi and all the fans silenced them”.

On the desire to play at all cost

“I think that everybody needs to take advantage of any opportunity to play. I always fear of losing my place if I stop working. I don’t want to give anyone a chance to take my spot. Yuval Shpungin, who is a very close friend, was the reason I pushed myself to the limit this season. He gives everything in every training session, which gives me a reason to work even harder.

I am leaving because I want to challenge and test myself in another setting. When I return to Israel it will be only for Maccabi Tel Aviv”.

On the national team

“The national team is very important to the Israeli people. It will be fantastic to qualify. It won’t be easy. Our group is not as easy as we originally thought. The fight will continue until the last moment”.

“We would like finish the season properly”

Maccabi’s midfielder, Gal Alberman, was convinced after the 0-3 loss to Beitar Jeruslam: “We weren’t as sharp as we should have been”

Players and staff admitted that winning the treble last week is not an excuse for this evening's performance.

Midfielder Gal Alberman confessed: “We weren’t as sharp and focused as we normally are and it was difficult for us to get back into the game after conceding the first goal. We wanted to remain competitive and fair towards the rest of the teams in the league by performing well this evening. It is a shame we couldn’t do so.”

Albermann

Alberman commented on the difficulty to maintain a high level of tension after winning the treble last week: “There is no question that it is hard to recreate energy after such a week, but it is not an excuse. We have enough experience to put the festivities aside but it wasn’t the case this evening.”

The long serving midfielder spoke about the final game of the season, next week against Maccabi Petah Tikva: “It will be our last home game of the season and we want to send our fans home with a smile after such a memorable season. We don’t need any additional motivation when we see our supporters in Bloomfield. Our fans gave us a lot of energy this season and we would like to have a good finish for them".

MACCABI ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH HP

Maccabi Tel Aviv FC is set to sign a three-year-agreement with HP, a global leading brand in Digital Technologies

“It’s hard to win when you are not focused”

Coach Pako AYESTARAN did not hide his disappointment after a 0-3 loss to Beitar Jerusalem

Maccabi Tel Aviv players were disappointed to lose in Teddy after the heights of last week. Coach Pako Ayestaran was not happy with his team’s performance:

PAKO

“We felt that we were not focused right from the start of the game and we clearly didn’t compete in the same way we have done in the rest of the season. Sometime the players switch off after a successful season but I don’t think this is something you should do. We lost the game at the first half. At the second half we tried to score and close the gap but we were not able to do so. “

Coach Pako commented on his half time team talk:

“The problem is that we didn’t compete at the first half and it is not fair for the rest of the league. You could feel the tension when we were fighting for the championship and today we couldn’t show the same intensity. It happens, but it is not something I like. I think that you have to try to keep your prestige, but we clearly didn't do that tonight.”

“Playing for Eran Zahavi”

After an historical week of winning both the league and the State Cup, Maccabi Tel Aviv will travel to the capital to face Beitar Jerusalem (Monday, 8:55pm). Beitar is playing to secure the 4th place, which leads to Europe and with two games left in the 2014/15 season, the local team has a lot to play for.

Badash

Barak Badash described the preparations for the game after winning the league and the cup last week:

“There is no doubt that that we are treating this game like any other. We already won everything there is to win but we have to remain competitive because the game has a direct impact on the 4th place, It is really important for us to stay professional. We have a deep squad and it should help us in the preparation for the match. There are several players who can step into the first team in case some of the starters are fatigued or injured”.

Badash is certain that Maccabi will not have an easy game at ‘Teddy’: “They have a great team. They proved it against us and against the rest of the league. The games against them are always challenging, especially at Teddy Stadium. It won’t be an easy encounter but I hope that the fact that we don’t have any pressure will help us to perform well".

The striker touched on Maccabi’s goal to improve their points record in the table: “As a team we want to finish the regular season with the highest number of points. We also can’t forget that we are playing for Eran Zahavi who is on the verge of breaking the top scorer record. I doubt if anyone else will come close to breaking the record in the near future. As a team we will do our best to help Eran become the all time top scorer”.
