Tomorrow: U-17 Play in The State Cup Final
Maccabi 'Oded' Tel Aviv (U-17) will play in the State Cup final against Ironi Nir Ramat Hasharon this Saturday at 9:00 in Shefaim.
Maccabi ‘Oded’ Tel Aviv encountered several difficult opponents on their way to the final. In the first round Maccabi faced MS Ashdod. Coach Eliezer Ben Aharon remembers the game well: “Our first game was in Ashdod. We were trailing 1-0 and managed to turn the game in the last ten minutes to win it 2-1 and to qualify”.

In the next round, Maccabi Tel Aviv traveled to Petah Tikva to play against local Maccabi. The hosts proved to be a difficult opponent and the score at the end of regulation time was 1-1. “We managed to win only in overtime. They made life really hard on us, but we were resilient and managed qualify after another challenging game”.
The quarter-final draw sent Maccabi on the road again to play Hakoah Amidar Ramat Gan. This game was surprisingly an easy one, Maccabi beat the home team 4-0 and qualified to the semi-final.
In the semi-final Maccabi faced Beitar Jerusalem in Wingate. Maccabi had a wonderful start, showing its dominance and eventually beating Beitar Jerusalem 3-1.
Coach Ben Aharon spoke ahead of the final on Saturday: “It is clear that Ramat Hasharon is a good side, otherwise they would not have been here. They are also at the top of their division, so we know it is not going to be an easy game. We are going to do our best. Our preparation for the game is the same is any other, though truth be told, there’s a great desire to win the cup”.
While Ben Aharon’s team will be playing in the final, their title opponents, Maccabi Haifa, will be playing a difficult away match against Hapoel Be’er Sheva. Maccabi is hoping for Haifa to lose points, Coach Ben Aharon insists his team’s attention will remain in the final: “We have to play and not to think about games elsewhere”.

Pako: ” we didnt play well today”
Maccabi qualified to the State Cup final after a 3-0 victory over Maccabi Akhi Nazareth. Coach Pako: “We didn’t play well today”
The State Cup semi-final took place at Teddy Stadium this evening and at the end of the second match Maccabi Tel Aviv qualified to the final after defeating Maccabi Akhi Nazareth 3-0. Coach Pako Ayestaran who led Maccabi to the this stage after a decade spoke about the accomplishment :

“It is clear to all that we didn’t play well. We haven’t played this way throughout the season. It’s clear to me that we could have spoiled it to ourselves but we managed to make it to the final anyway. We saw in the playoffs that we are in great form. Today however, especially in the first half, we had one of our worst performances. I don’t think we will beat Be’er Sheva with this performance. I am also asking myself why we played the way we did, especially when we have good enough players to win. I made the substitutions that I thought would impact the game”.
Coach Pako also talked about the squad rotation:
“Dor Micha wasn’t in the roster because we have a deep squad. There are many players like like Gael Margulies, who deserve to play. I wanted to reward him for his commitment in training. I think that the players who were on the pitch tonight are good enough to win. I wouldn’t change my decision before or after the game. The players in the squad should get their chance to play. A player who is committed to the team will get a chance to perform in order to show he can stay here next season”.
Margulies: “Glad we qualified”
Maccabi Tel Aviv beat Maccabi Akhi Nazareth 3-0 in Teddy Stadium and qualified to the cup final. Margulies: “Thrilled to have qualified but not from the performance”.
Maccabi Tel Aviv qualified tonight to the State Cup final after beating Maccabi Akhi Nazareth 3-0. Gael Margulies who completed 90 minutes said at the end: “It was a very tough game against a resilient opponent that shut us down very well in the first half. It happens that there are weaker performances. I am happy that we managed to qualify to the final. Personally it was a difficult game for me after not playing for a long time. I gave everything I had and I am happy the coach gave me the chance. I’m going through a rough season, but I am doing the best I can to play more. We’ll sit with the club this summer and see where we go”.

Maccabi Facts: Getting ready for the semi-final
We’ve gathered a few anecdotes ahead of the semi-final encounter in Teddi Stadium between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Akhi Nazareth.
It is almost time. The yellows are back at the semi-final stage, ten years after the last appearance. This time we will play Maccabi Akhi Nazareth. So hereby is some information we would love to share with you. Did you know that…?
Back to Teddi: Maccabi’s last victory in the capital was in December 2013. Paulo Sousa’s yellows won 2-1.

All stays in the family: While Moanes Dabbur is excelling in Switzerland, his brother Anas Dabbur would be playing for Akhi Nazareth on Wednesday night.
The X factor: Two former Maccabi Tel Aviv players, Alan Masudi and Gal Nir are now playing for Akhi Nazareth.

Right foot start: Goalkeeper Gal Nir had his Maccabi debut between the posts on August 7th, 2004 against Akhi Nazareth’s hometime rival, Hapoel Nazareth Illit, in the Toto Cup. The yellows won 4-0.
The responsible adult: At age 37, Alan Masudi is the oldest player at Akhi Nazareth’s squad. Up next is veteran Savity Lipenia (36).
On route to the final? Maccabi Tel Aviv won eight out of its nine semi-final meetings since the 90s.
Glass half full: Ido Exbard is staring at Akhi Nazareth this season with 18 league goals. So far the northern team scored 46 goals in the National League. Exbard is also leading the scoring charts in the Cup with five goals.
Back to the future: Maccabi Tel Aviv’s last victory over Akhi Nazareth was in December 2003. Aldo Adorno’s gave Maccabi a 1-0 victory. Since then the two clubs met three more time-drawing twice and losing once.
Expats: Two foreign players scored Maccabi’s winning goals against Akhi Nazareth. Aldo Adorno (1-0) and Bruno Reis (2-0). Both games were played in 2003/4.

The first date: The only meeting between the two clubs in the in the State Cup was in 2001. The Yellows beat the northern team 3-0 with goals by Rodrigo Goldberg, Tal Banin and Baruch Dego.
There’s always a first time: This is Maccabi Tel Aviv’s first semi-final appearance in ten years. For Akhi Nazareth it would be the first time at this stage.
ZIV: “We want to end their Cinderella story”
Tonight at 20:30 in Teddy Stadium Maccabi will return to the semi-final of the State Cup to play against second division Maccabi Akhi Nazareth.

Today Maccabi defender Yoav Ziv could not conceal his excitement towards the match: “We really want to win the semi-final. We don’t want to look too far ahead or at the next opponent, because we will be punished if we will be complacent. The desire to succeed is great. The cup is something sweet that you win and lift at the same moment. It’s not like a league championship that comes at the end of a whole season”.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyyxH6uhpPo
Regarding the fact that ten years have passed since the last semi-final appearance said Ziv: “Our team doesn’t need tips from me because our team is experienced in these stages, as well as others competitions. We need to come focused and forget about complacency. People love "Cinderellas" in the cup and we do not want any Cinderella celebrating on our expense”.
“Akhi is team that we don’t know as well but we do not belittle them”, added Ziv. “We will be suitably prepared-we watched their videos, we know their players and we are ready for the game”.
