Yossi Benayoun

Yossi Benayoun joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 2016 after two seasons with Maccabi Haifa. Benayoun, who grew up at Hapoel Beer Sheva, spent many glorious seasons in Europe after making his breakthrough with Maccabi Haifa at the beginning of the 2000’s. His first continental stop was at Racing Santander in La Liga, then he moved to West Ham United in the English Premier League where he also played for Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers.

At the start of the 2016/17 campaign Benayoun joined Maccabi Tel Aviv and he scored his first goal in his Yellow & Blue debut against Gorica from Slovenia in the 90th minute of a 1:0 victory. He also helped Maccabi advance to the Europa League Group Stages and scored his only Derby goal in a Toto Cup 2:0 win.

By the end of the season, Benayoun made 46 appearances, scored 5 goals and assisted on 3. In April 2019, he retired from active play while with Beitar Jerusalem.
