An outstanding achievement for Israeli football after Israel’s youth national team qualified to the UEFA European U-19 final tournament to be played in Slovakia in June 2022. A dramatic late 1-0 victory over Scotland thanks to a Roy Revivo 88th minute goal, helped Israel win Group 1 ahead of hosts Hungary, Scotland, and Turkey.Midfielder Oscar Gloukh together with defenders Ilay Tomer and Shon Edri were also part of the squad that was held to a 0-0 draw by Hungary in the opening match and then beat Turkey 3-1 on the second Match day.Israel joined France, England, Romania, Italy, Austria as the team that qualified together with hosts Slovakia for the final tournament which will be played between June 18 and July 1st. The draw that will split the final tournament into two groups is set to take place on April 28th in Samorin-Cilistov with the top two in each section progressing to the semi-finals. Those four teams will qualify for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia along with the winner of a play-off between the sides finishing 3rd in the two groups, filling UEFA’s five slots.
