Yellow & Blue Youth Results – March 30, 2019

Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv 2:2 Hapoel Beer Sheva
After the international break the Under-19 side returned to the pitch and drew 2:2 against Hapoel Beer Sheva on Matchday 24 of the Israel Youth Premier League. Beer Sheva took a 2:0 lead but the Yellow & Blue were able to comeback to draw even late in the match thanks to goals by Ido Hagar has Tal Yagudaev. Guy Tzarfati’s squad currently sits in 2nd place, 3 points off the top of the table side, Maccabi Petah Tikva. For the full Match Report click here.

Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” Tel Aviv 3:0 Hapoel Nir Ramat HaSharon
After defeating Beitar Jerusalem in the State Cup last week, the Under-16 squad continued their positive momentum as they defeated Ramat Hasharon on Matchday 24 of league action. Head Coach Eran Sassi’s side recorded an important home win as Jan Shalata, Rotem Grama and Yonatan Paz all scored. Head Coach Eran Sassi summed up the win: “We played well right from the get go and we showed a lot of patience knowing that our opponent would play defensive football. However, we were still able to get to a number of chances to score because we sent quick balls forward and long balls throughout the match. We slowed down the pace a bit in the second half but we were a of to play well defensively and not concede a goal.”

Hapoel Rishon Le’Zion 0:1 Maccabi “Eldad” Tel Aviv
The Under-15 squad took home the win over Rishon Le’Zion thanks to Oral Bahia’s goal and increased their lead atop the table to two points. Head Coach Ori David spoke about the match that was: “This was a well played game by the team despite the poor weather conditions. We had many chances from the first minutes and thankfully we were able to score near the end of the contest. I’m proud of the guys.”

Under-19 State Cup Derby

Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv will face Hapoel Tel Aviv in a Round of 16 matchup in the Under-19 State Cup on Tuesday at 15:00. The Yellow & Blue will visit Wolfson for this knockout Derby contest as the team held their final training session this evening under the direction of head coach Guy Tzarfati.

Tzarfati: “This match has a number of interesting factors associated with it. The first thing is that it’s an away match, the second it’s a Derby and the third it’s a knockout State Cup clash which are always difficult as we will have just one chance to advance to the next stage.”

Derby:
“Derby matches are always tough battles and our opponent is a quality one with national team players. We have a difficult match in front of us.”

Motivation:
“We don’t have to take about being motivated for a match like this and the players who have grown up through the Maccabi ranks know exactly what type of energy is needed when you get to play a Derby. We have to be cool, calm and collected while bringing our best effort to the pitch. I believe we will be able to do that and advance to the next stage.”

The Under-19 squad entered the State Cup competition last round against Maccabi Petah Tikva who took a 1:0 lead in the 61’ thanks to a penalty. Playing with only ten men, Maccabi was able to draw even five minutes later as Ido Shahar scored for the Yellow & Blue and eventually won via penalty shootout 4:1.

The month of March saw Maccabi Tel Aviv win the championship and it’s now time to vote for the HISENSE Player of the Month for a chance to win a brand new TV.

Maccabi FIRST members can choose the player that they thought were the best of the best beginning today Monday April 1, 2019 at 16:00 until Thursday March 4th at 12:00. On Thursday April 4th at 17:00, all those who chose the winning player will receive an SMS with a trivia question. The first to answer correctly will win a 32” TV from HISENSE.

Yeini: “We have a lot of hungry players who want to win”

Sheran Yeini, the Maccabi Tel Aviv Captain looked forward to the State Cup semifinal against Bnei Yehuda on Wednesday night at Teddy Stadium:

“I can’t compare this coach and season’s to others as it will take a long time. But what he has been able to do is gather a lot of hungry players who want to win. There are a lot of different types of players on the club and that’s one thing from this season.”

Training following the championship:
“We had a training session yesterday and we will work on the game plan just as we have for every other match. We know they will be tough and we respect them. We will come into the match ready to go.”

Ivic ahead of the State Cup Semifinals: “The State Cup is a very important goal”

Vladimir Ivic, the Maccabi Tel Aviv Head Coach addressed the media at the State Cup semifinal press conference ahead of Wednesday night’s contest (20:45) against Bnei Yehuda at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem:

“I want to compliment Bnei Yehuda who are in the Championship playoffs and now we are facing them in the semifinals. They gave us a very difficult time last game even though we won 2:1. The State Cup is one of our goals from the start of the season. Following our celebrations with the fans we had to begin preparing for the game which will be tough. We have to give 100% in order to win and go to the final.”

Desire to win:
“We all want to win the title. The chances are 50/50 and we will have to fight to achieve this goal.”

Players injury status:
“All of my players are important for me and we have to see who will be able to play and win the game. We will have to see who is 100% and they will play just as we began the season this way, we will end it this way as well.”

Professional players:
“We played the same team and we won the first and lost the second. You can’t celebrate a lot in football. It goes game by game. The next game is 3 days later and we have to prepare. It was an emotional moment but that is why I asked the players to just celebrate at the stadium with the fans because now isn’t the moment. They are professional players and they have shown this to me all season and they work hard. The State Cup is a very important goal and the players will be ready to go.”

Fighting for a place in the Starting XI:
“Chico was out in the last league game with a problem. We hope he will be back soon and the medical staff is working with him. Piven and Jair know that I follow them every day at training. It depends who the team is and Jair played well, but we will have to see what will be for the next game. They all know that they have to fight for a position in the Starting XI.”
