Youth Academy Results – Saturday October 6, 2018
After their trip to Russia for the UEFA Youth League clash against Anzhi Makhachkala, the Under-19 squad Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv will play their league contest on Tuesday versus Hapoel Ramat Gan at the Ramle Stadium at 18:00.
Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv 2:0 Bnei Sakhnin
After a midweek 6:3 win at Beitar Jerusalem, the Under-17 side returned home to face Bnei Sakhnin and move their record up to 6 wins and 1 draw, good for first place as they defeated the Galilee based team 2:0. Goals by Nehoray Bitton (24’) and Yali Lazar (74’) helped Eliezer Ben Aharoni’s charges to the victory. Following the match the Head Coach summed up the win: “This was our third win this week in a match that wasn’t played at the highest level but we dominated control. We were ready for Sakhnin’s style of play and that’s what helped us pick up the win. Next week we head to Beer Sheva which is always difficult but that never scares a Maccabi team.”
Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” Tel Aviv 1: Beitar Tubruk
An Aviv Peles goal gave Maccabi an early 1:0 lead but the visitor’s drew even to split the points in the second half. Eran Sassi summed up the match: “The goal of this match was to help give the players confidence on the defensive side of the ball after we gave up 3 goals last game. I’m happy that the team was able to learn how to do things better this week. On the attack, we are still not able to take advantage of our opportunities that we were able to create and I hope that with more hard work we will be able to accomplish this. All in all this was a good game, especially in the second half. I hope we will see further improvement next match.”
Maccabi “Eldad” Tel Aviv 5:0 Sektzia Nes Ziona
After a midweek 3:3 draw against Kiryat Gat, Matchday 4 saw the Under-15 side get back into the winning track and have taken 10 out of a possible 12 points so far this season. Oskar Glok and Oral Bahia each scored a brace while Ben Gold added a single marker. Head Coach Ori David spoke about the win: “We had some good moments during the match and we competed against a side that played very defensively at times but we were able to take advantage of our opportunities and played to our strengths. We scored 5 nice goals and we recorded a clean sheet so I’m very content.”
Heading to Teddy: All you need to know ahead of Maccabi & Beitar
Just ahead of the International break, Maccabi Tel Aviv has one more terrific clash when they visit Beitar Jerusalem this evening at 21:00 Israel Time at Teddy Stadium in the capital city. The contest will be the “Match of the Week” on Matchday 6 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Japanika.

Vladimir Ivic’s side comes into the game after a goalless Derby draw last week and are in 2nd place with 11 out of a possible 15 points. Just before the match at Teddy, table leaders Hapoel Hadera will face Kiryat Shemona and should they lose points, the Yellow & Blue could take over the top spot with 3 points and a win. Last night, Maccabi continued preparations as owner Mitch Goldhar attended the final training session after arriving in Israel on Friday.
Beitar Jerusalem enters the match after falling at Kiryat Shemona 2:0 last week and have collected 4 points to date, good for 13th place.
You may recall, the two sides faced each other in the Toto Cup earlier this season with Maccabi taking a 1:0 victory thanks to Aaron Schoenfeld’s goal. Last season the clubs met 4 times in league play with each team winning two matches.
Head Coach Vladimir Ivic spoke about Beitar’s speed and attack at the prematch press conference: “We’re preparing ourselves for this, talking about this a lot and working hard. There are things that we need to improve from last match and that’s our goal. You’ll have to wait and see if we have prepared something different for the game.”
Dor Peretz also addressed the assembled media ahead of the Beitar game: “They can cause us some difficulties. Beitar is known as one of the best counterattacking teams and that is one of their advantages. If we pay attention to this it will help us. They have many advantages and we’ll plan accordingly.”
Some facts and stats:
* Maccabi’s last league loss was against Beitar last April when they fell 3:2. Since then the Yellow & Blue have an 11 match undefeated streak.
* In the last 5 league matches between the clubs, the winner scored more than one goal.
* The last time a contest between Maccabi and Beitar ended in a 0:0 draw was in February 2012. Since then the clubs have played 23 games in which at least one goal was scored.
Ahead of Beitar: Owner Mitch Goldhar attends final training session
Maccabi Tel Aviv continued preparations for Sunday night’s match at Beitar Jerusalem (21:00). The Yellow & Blue held their final training session at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom as owner Mitch Goldhar looked on after landing in Israel on Friday together with Jack Angelides.
Prior to the training session, Head Coach Vladimir Ivic and midfielder Dor Peretz addressed the assembled media at the prematch press conference ahead of tomorrow’s contest at Teddy Stadium.
Peretz: “Beitar can cause some difficulties”
Maccabi Tel Aviv will visit Beitar Jerusalem on Sunday at 21:00 on Matchday 6 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Japanika and midfielder Dor Peretz spoke about the upcoming clash:
“They can cause us some difficulties. Beitar is known as one of the best counterattacking teams and that is one of their advantages. If we pay attention to this it will help us. They have many advantages and we’ll plan accordingly.”
Expectations about the match:
“We’ve had some tough matches against very defensive minded clubs and occasionally we have some difficulties. I believe that tomorrow’s match will be different and we will have to see what will be. No one wants to make our lives easy and they may begin the match defensively, but we are familiar with their players and know where they like to position themselves and attack.”
Being called up to the National Team:
“It’s a great feeling to know that I took this step up and from here I just want to continue on.”

“Competition is good for everyone especially on the pitch and I’m happy about it.”

Maccabi Tel Aviv will visit Beitar Jerusalem Sunday at 21:00 on Matchday 6 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Japanika. Head Coach Vladimir Ivic held his prematch press conference at the PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom ahead of the contest:
“We’ve played against many defensive teams and that’s part of our lives. We’re prepared for this if they decide to play this way. That’s their decision and we have to be ready, it’s normal. We’ve already faced teams that have played defensively and waited to counterattack.”
Speed of the Beitar attackers:
“We’re preparing ourselves for this, talking about this a lot and working hard. There are things that we need to improve from last match and that’s our goal. You’ll have to see if we have prepared something different tomorrow.”
The Starting XI:
“I don’t know what they are saying in the press. I know what my Starting XI is as do the players. No one has a guaranteed place in the starting lineup that’s for sure. Everyone has to fight and work hard in order to get one of these places. It all depends on how they work, the opponent’s players and how we want to play. This is normal and I don’t care what others think. I know what my job is and we all want to give 100% every match and choose the appropriate Starting XI.”
Players on the National Team:
“We are happy that there are many Maccabi players on the National Team. I’ve said in the past that it’s important for us. If possible, I’d be happy if there were 11 Maccabi players in the lineup. That means that we are working correctly and that we have good players. I hope that we will have more and more players on the National Team.”

After falling to Anzhi 3:2 in Russia in UEFA Youth Champions League play, Guy Tzarfati’s squad will return to Israel Youth Premier League action on Tuesday on Matchday 6 against Hapoel Ramat Gan.

After a midweek 6:3 win over Beitar Jerusalem the Under-17’s return home to face Bnei Sakhnin on Matchday 7 of League play. The Yellow & Blue are in first place while the visitor’s sit in 10th.
Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” Tel Aviv – Beitar Tubruk, 9:00 PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom (U16)
Beitar Tubruk pays a visit to Maccabi’s Under-16 squad on Matchday 6 as they’ll look to get back onto the winning track. A victory will move the Under-16 side ahead of Tubruk on the table.
Maccabi “Eldad” Tel Aviv – Sektzia Nes Ziona, 8:30 PenguinPickUp Training Ground at Kiryat Shalom (U15)
After a midweek 3:3 draw against Kiryat Gat, the Under-15 team will look to get back to their winning ways at home on Matchday 4 of league action. Nes Ziona currently finds themselves in last place with 3 losses in as many games.
Eliran Atar voted HISENSE September Player of the Month
Eliran Atar’s good start to the season and fine month of September has earned him the HISENSE Player of the Month award as Maccabi FIRST members gave the striker the nod.

However he did have competition as Itay Shechter finished a close second while Dor Micha, Dan Glazer, Eli Dasa and Sheran Yeini were all close behind as the squad won 3 matches and drew two others.
