Yellow-and-Blue April: Check out what’s waiting for you this month
The International break is behind us. Six matches are waiting for you including the State Cup Semifinal against Bnei Sakhnin the night before the Passover Seder and many other fun events. Take out your calendars and start marking down the following dates:
April 3 – Matchday 29: Maccabi Tel Aviv hosts Hapoel Raanana at Bloomfield Stadium, 20:30. (LIVE from the Stadium)
The Yellow-and-Blue will look to move up to first place, at least until Hapoel Beer Sheva plays Beitar Jerusalem while the 1995/96 Double Season club will be part of launching Maccabi Tel Aviv’s “Ex-Players Club” and will take to the pitch for a special ceremony (don’t miss the Commemorative Digital Matchday Program that will be available via the Official App on Sunday morning). Right before the opening whistle, the Club will honor the memory of Johan Cruyff as the players will wear a Limited Edition jersey in tribute to the football legend and father of Maccabi’s Sports Director Jordi Cruyff.
Of course you can also listen to the broadcast of the match “LIVE from the Stadium” on the Official Website or App as Lior Timor will handle the play by play duties and former player Alon Natan will provide the color commentary. During the broadcast you’ll have the chance to answer a trivia question for an opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the next home match against Beitar Jerusalem. Don’t miss out!
April 7 & 12 – “Drive Safely” Program in conjunction with KIA and Maccabi Tel Aviv
Gal Alberman, Carlos Garcia, Tal Ben Haim and Yoav Ziv got together with 40 fans at the Rishon Le’Zion Go-Kart Track and participated in a seminar on safe driving in conjunction with KIA and Maccabi Tel Aviv. April 11 – Matchday 30: Beitar Jerusalem visits Bloomfield Stadium at 20:55 (LIVE from the Stadium)
Slobodan Drapic’s surprise package who have already defeated the Yellow-and-Blue at the Jaffa stadium will visit the hallowed ground again, but this time for their first playoff matchup of 2016. Maccabi still hasn’t picked up a victory against the capital city team. Will now be the time?
April 17 – Matchday 31: Maccabi visits Sammy Ofer Stadium to take on Maccabi Haifa at 20:55 (LIVE from the Stadium)
Sammy Ofer week will open up on Sunday as the Yellow-and-Blue kick off against Roni Levi’s team. What other day will they be playing at Sammy Ofer? Read the next item.
April 21 – Israel State Cup Semifinal: Maccabi Tel Aviv – Bnei Sakhnin, 20:30 (LIVE from the Stadium)
Last year Maccabi had to visit Teddy to punch their ticket to the State Cup Final after beating Maccabi Ahi Nazareth 3:0. This time the club will face Bnei Sakhnin at Sammy Ofer, an opponent who has already caused plenty of problems for the Yellow-and-Blue and all this right before the Four Questions on the Seder Night! This will be the first of two matches between the clubs in the same week. When will they play again? Keep reading.
April 24/25 – Matchday 32: Bnei Sakhnin hosts Maccabi Tel Aviv. Sammy Ofer yet again?
Just a few days after the State Cup clash, Maccabi will meet Yossi Abuksis’ club once more. Eran Zahavi won the first game between the two teams with an 80th minute goal. Where will the match take place? We’ll let you know soon. Sakhnin was handed a radius penalty which means that they can’t host the match at Doha Stadium. Will they take on Sakhnin at Sammy Ofer again? We’ll only know the answer as we get closer to the game.
April 30 – Matchday 33: The MATCH of the Year against Hapoel Beer Sheva?
Logic says that this match will be played on either Sunday or Monday as the Match of the Week. Who cares if we’re already excited. Mark it down.

One of ours: Nosa Igiebor receives an Israeli ID Card
The Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club is happy to announce that Nigerian midfielder Emanuel Nosa Igiebor has received his Israeli ID card after a long and discreet process due to the Jewish roots of his grandmother. After filing the appropriate documents to prove that he is in fact Jewish, Igiebor received Israeli citizenship.

Hapoel Beer Sheva – Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv, 12:00, Beer Sheva (Live on Sport 5)
Ziv Arie’s Yellow-and-Blue team will look to forge a new path after two defeats in a row as they visit Wassermil Stadium and Hapoel Beer Sheva who are currently in second place. Should Maccabi win they will leap over the Southern Reds from fourth place.
Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv – SC Ashdod, 09:00, Kiryat Shalom
Following a State Cup clash between the two clubs where the young Yellow-and-Blue fell on penalties, the sides will meet once again on Matchday 24 of the Under-17 League.
Gadna Tel Aviv – Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” Tel Aviv, 09:00, Cherner Jaffa
Eliezer Ben Aharon and Gady Brumer’s charges will visit Gadna Tel Aviv in Jaffa. The club leads their league and will look to add another 3-points to their total on Saturday.
Ironi Modiin – Maccabi “Eldad” Tel Aviv, 16:00, Modiin
Maccabi “Eldad” will take their show on the road as Amir Sofer’s side head to Modiin for a match that will take place on Friday afternoon. The young Yellow-and-Blue currently lead the table by 12 points.
Maccabi “Team 2” Tel Aviv – Maccabi Petach Tikva, Kiryat Shalom, 08:30
Currently sitting in third place, Ran Elias and his team will host the Petach Tikva club who find themselves in second place. The match will take place at the Kiryat Shalom Training Facility.

Live from the Stadium- Playoff Time
The break was certainly long enough and we missed Bloomfield and of course Maccabi! The Yellow-and-Blue will host Hapoel Raanana on Matchday 29 of the WINNER League and we’ll be there to broadcast the match “LIVE form the Stadium” via the Official Website and App beginning at 20:10.
Hold on. We’re not done. During the broadcast we will ask a trivia question each half that you’ll be able to answer on the Official Facebook Page. The first person to answer it correctly will win a pair of tickets to the upcoming home match against Beitar Jerusalem.
How does it work?
Simple. All you have to do is click on the link that is posted on the day of the match. A webpage will open and you’ll be able to listen to the game and the broadcast will continue until you close the webpage. Remember the broadcast begins at 20:10!
All that’s left to do is listen, enjoy the match and wait for the trivia question.

A TRIBUTE TO A FRIEND OF MACCABI
In conjunction with our fans, Maccabi Tel Aviv FC will honor the memory of Johan Cruyff during Sunday’s league match against Hapoel Ra’anana.
Throughout the week a number of fans have contacted the club to express their condolences to the Cruyff family and asked to have the chance to express their affection to the football legend that has been associated with our club.
As part of the tribute the players will wear a commemorative strip with a special “14” logo and an inscription of Johan Cruyff in addition to a traditional black armband.
The Club will also make these strips available to the fans before and after the match at a reduced price and with a donation from each going to the ‘Cruyff Foundation’.

Chief Executive Martin Bain said: “There are many clubs and teams across the globe this week that have recognized the passing of Johan Cryuff in their own special way. I am sure our fans who have a special affection for Johan and for some of the club’s he played for will show their appreciation in a number of different ways around the stadium and send their goodwill and strength to his son Jordi, our Sport Director and his family”
Alberman: “We’re putting all of our focus on Sunday’s Match”
Just before the club puts it into high gear for the final eight matches of the season to see who will be crowned League Champions, the Maccabi Tel Aviv players participated in the “Drive Safely” Program in conjunction with KIA at the Rishon Le’Zion Karting Track where they met with 40 Yellow-and-Blue fans at a safe driving presentation.

On Sunday, Maccabi Tel Aviv will take on Hapoel Raanana on Matchday 29 of the WINNER League at Bloomfield Stadium. The club’s defensive midfielder, Gal Alberman spoke about the upcoming match against the Sharon side and how he feels coming back from the International break: “You have to remember that it was a short break, only one week. I think it was good for the players who aren’t playing on National teams as it gave them some time off after a season with many matches. I believe it did us some good.”
On Sunday’s opponent:
“We are at a point where the Championship can be won or lost each and every week. Our goal is to win every remaining game and we’re putting all of our focus on Sunday’s match. We defeated them and they beat us but we are not looking at getting revenge or anything like that.”
Having experience in the stretch run:
“We will only know if our experience helped us at the end of the campaign. We’re relaxed right now, we believe in our ability and are playing with a lot of confidence, so there’s no reason to think why it won’t continue. We feel that we can win the title and that’s what we are trying to accomplish.”
How the club is feeling about the loss of Johan Cruyff:
“It was a big blow to our club. I’m really not qualified to tell you who Johan Cruyff was but what I can say is that he is worthy of every adjective and description that’s been used over the last few days. Johan may not have been so connected to Maccabi but Jordi certainly is. The players had the chance to meet Johan and we saw him at Kiryat Shalom many times. It’s been tough on everyone since we found out he had passed away.”
