Physically challenged entry to match:

The following procedure will be in place for the upcoming home match for the physically challenged and their chaperone – Maccabi Tel Aviv will continue its long standing policy of not charging for physically challenged fans and their chaperones and will provide these tickets free of charge. #Table

In the first round of matches, Maccabi collected 9 victories, 2 draws and 2 losses. The second round saw them win 10 games, draw two matches like the first round and lose only once. 32 points compared to 29 in the last round.

#Coach

Three coaches stood on the sidelines for the Yellow-and-Blue during round two. Slavisa Jokanovic managed there matches (2 wins and a loss), Peter Bosz (7 wins, 2 draws) and Javier Pereira who handled one game, defeating Hapoel Raanana giving him a cool 100% winning percentage.

#Spearhead

Maccabi Tel Aviv scored 32 goals in the second round while scoring 27 in the first. Hapoel Beer Sheva and Beitar Jerusalem scored 22 and 19 goals respectively in round number two. The amount of Yellow-and-Blue goal scorers also went up this round by one, from 10 to 11 marksmen.

#Captain

You have to give Zahavi a paragraph of his own. Amazing as it may sound, the Captain was actually able to better his goal scoring in the second round going from 12 markers in the first round to 15 Yellow-and-Blue goals between Matchday 14 through 26.

#Clean-sheets

This is one category where Maccabi dropped a bit going from seven first round shutouts to six clean-sheets in the second round. That last minute goal by Hapoel Haifa is pretty annoying right about now?! Maccabi is ranked second in total shutouts with 13, just one match less than Beitar who have picked up 14. Beer Sheva sits in third place with 12 matches without letting in a goal.

#Songs & Goals

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans enjoyed seeing at least one goal in every match as no game ended goalless. There were also plenty of songs courtesy of the fans.

Maccabi Tel Aviv scored two penalty goals, one goal from a dead ball situation and three headers.

#Congratulations

Eli Dasa and Orlando Sa added their names to the list of Maccabi goal scorers in the second round with each scoring a pair.

Dor Micha opened the scoring for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 3rd minute, banging home a rebound to give his side an early lead. Number 15 spoke about the match, Tal Ben Chaim’s yellow card, the playoff round and more:

“It was very important for us to go into the playoff round in the best shape possible. This was our fourth win in a row and we played terrific football today which is most important. We have to continue this way.”

About the match:

“It may have been our best match of the year. We created chances, pressed and controlled the ball as we really dominated every parameter of the game.”

Scoring a goal and beating a defensive system:

“I felt great. When you play against a team that is very defensive and puts a lot of players in the box, you have to come down the wings to attack and draw them out.”

Tal Ben Chaim picked up a yellow card and won’t play against Beer Sheva:

“He will really be missed and I think that the referee needed to show a bit more patience. There’s nothing you can do now and it’s part of the game. We will have to move on without him for that match. It’s unfortunate.”

The playoff round begins next week:

“We’re used to beginning the playoffs in first place but this time it’s a bit different. We’re in money time now and we will have to give it our all to keep the title.”

Orlando Sa, the Yellow-and-Blue’s Portuguese striker spoke about the 5:0 win against Kfar Saba after scoring a brace for the club in only his second start for the team. Sa also discussed the battle with Beer Sheva for first place, the formation, playing wth Eran Zahavi and his name:

“Some people in other countries may call me Orlando Magic but I’m just trying to make the right movements in the box to score. Sometimes I can do it and sometimes I have some luck. Tonight I did it.”

Scoring:

“All strikers like to score and if get good balls I can. I’m always pressuring my teammates to do a little bit better but it was a great game.”

Playing with Eran Zahavi:

“Players with quality always can play together. Eran Zahavi has a lot of quality as does TT (Tal Ben Chaim) Eden Ben Basat, Dor Micha, but everybody wants to play and it’s the coach’s job to see who should play. It doesn’t matter who I play with, I’ll try to help the team score goals. If I can keep playing as well as I did tonight with Eran it will be good for everybody.”

Zahavi’s run to be the single season leading goal scorer of all time:

“I heard about this during the game as I wanted the ball to take the penalty but he told me he needed to take it to score the goal. I’ll try to help him but the team comes first and we need to make sure we win. Only once I know we will win I’ll help him.”

Ben Chaim’s yellow card accumulation and not being able to play against Beer Sheva:

“I just found out about this now. TT has quality and all of the players who will play in that position I’m sure will do the same.”

The battle for first place:

“The numbers don’t lie. We are scoring more and we are playing better in my opinion. We have a massive squad and a lot of players with quality. Beer Sheva is in good shape they are confident and winning but we are still doing our job and we have to keep working. We will see at the end of the season who will win the title.”

On which formation is better:

Better is to win. It doesn’t matter if the team wins with 4-3-3 or 442. Either way I’ll train hard every day because I’m still not feeling 100% as this was only my second start. I’ll keep working hard with my teammates and the coach is here to decide.”

Peter Bosz, the Yellow-and-Blue Head Coach picked up another victory, this time 5:0 against Hapoel Kfar Saba in the final Matchday of the regular season. The Dutchman discussed the club’s improved play, the transfer window acquisitions, Ben Chaim’s yellow card and the team’s play this evening:

“The most important thing today was that we really improved our game. We pressed, maintained the ball and we created many chances. I really liked the pressure we put on the ball. Kfar Saba had a few opportunities in the first half which I wasn’t happy about but we corrected that issue in the second half. It was a fantastic match for Maccabi. The players enjoyed it as did the fans and myself.”

Tal Ben Chaim’s yellow card that will rule him out of the Beer Sheva match:

“In football you have to always play the same way as you usually would do. If you start to think about things like this, you can’t play. I haven’t spoken to Tal, Avi or Eli yet about their yellow cards. I haven’t been in Israel for very long but I do appreciate the fact that you can play tough here. I saw many fouls that weren’t whistled for free kicks and I don’t think that what he did warranted a yellow card, but I’m just the Maccabi coach.”

On the club’s improved play:

“It’s starting to look more like what I want to see other than three of their opportunities. Fast movement and quickly moving the ball around, along with pressing when we lose the ball. It’s not easy to play this style after only a few weeks but we continue to improve week to week. I’m not a coach that talks about methods but the about the philosophy of the game. Controlling the ball and pressing. Today we had two defensive and one offensive midfielders, but that can change.”

January’s transfer window acquisitions:

“A striker has to be hungry to score and that’s important as Orlando knows how to protect the ball. He plays with ball going forward and I like that, it’s not easy but he can do it. The media doubted Medunjanin’s abilities because he didn’t play much in Spain and didn’t know how he would be able to fit in, but he keeps improving week to week and looks fantastic.”

Playing Avi Rikan as a left defensive back:

“I’ve already said that you don’t win titles with 11 players but with a full squad. Any player who gets an opportunity has to prove themselves and they are doing exactly that. Avi did this today as well as in other games before this one.”
