After defeating Hapoel Ramat HaSharon and Rishon Le’Zion in the earlier round of the State Cup, the Yellow-and-Blue were drawn to face Hapoel Kfar Saba in a two legged tie for a ticket to the semifinals. The first match will be played away at Levita Stadium on Wednesday February 10th at 21:00 and 2015/16 season ticket holders will have first priority to purchase tickets beginning this evening. Maccabi supporters will be seated in section 4.

Tickets may be purchased through the Leaan Ticket Agency via the Internet, telephone and at the Leaan Ticket Office. Should tickets remain by Sunday February 7th, ticket sales will be open to all fans.

Maccabi Tel Aviv will host their first Tel Aviv Derby of the season on Matchday 22 of WINNER League action when they welcome their city rivals Hapoel to Bloomfield Stadium. Dutch Head Coach Peter Bosz will be manning the sidelines for his first Derby and discussed the preparations for the game, the transfer window and the race for the title:

“If we win and Beer Sheva loses then we are number one. The plan for the derby is to win the game, play good football and look at ourselves. We don’t gain any extra points by looking at Beer Sheva. It’s an important game for the fans as it’s a Derby.”

Hapoel Tel Aviv’s roster turnover:

“I don’t have any control on who plays for Hapoel and which players they have brought in. I can only control what Maccabi does. We will prepare well, be fit and be mentally prepared. That’s all I can do. I know Hapoel is not well classified, but for me it’s much more important how we are doing. I know a lot more about Maccabi.”

Gili Vermouth’s transfer to Maccabi Haifa:

“I said that all of the players that work with me, then I want them in the club. He worked hard and is a good player. He’s no longer our player and is now with Maccabi Haifa. He’s a fantastic player and he wants to play, he’s also a national team player and with Maccabi he didn’t have very many minutes, that’s football. There’s always a possibility for players to move, that’s football. I’m focusing on players that are here.”

The injury status of the players:

“I think Avi Rikan is better but he was sick for 3-4 days. I will have to see today as he will train with us for the first time. I’ll need to see the medical report. Orlando Sa will not train with us today, but we still have two more days of training until the next game.”

The importance of Eran Zahavi:

“Eran is a fantatsic player, and I’m not telling you something new, you all know it. But he still needs help, he can’t do everything on his own and the team has to be around him. He’s really important and of course his goals are important but there is more, his mentality is maybe as much important as his goals. He is a fantastic team player. At the cup match, a lot of players had cramps and he pulled everyone together and took us to the victory. He’s important, but the team is always more important.”

The transfer window that just closed:

“You must know all the facts and in football you don’t know all of the facts. Only the owners and Jordi know all of the facts. I don’t even know everything. I’m happy with the team I have right now.”

The team’s adjustment to the new style of play:

“I’m in football long enough to know that we can’t immediately play the way we to play want at Maccabi. Everything takes time and I’ve been here for only a month. Sometimes the style that I want to play we will only be able to do for 30 minutes like against Beitar and other times it will be the first half, but we will work for the 90 minutes. That’s the dream, but it’s not possible to see what you want to see in one month. That’s why we train and continue to get better.”

Eran Zahavi is preparing for his side’s match against Hapoel Tel Aviv on Matchday 22 of the WINNER League this coming Sunday evening at Bloomfield Stadium, 20:55. The captain discussed the upcoming Derby match, the transfer window and his former teammate Gili Vermouth:

“Gili is a good player and he could have helped us but as the coach said, he wanted to play more minutes and I wish him the best of luck with his new team. I know what he could give to the team but he was disappointed with the amount of minutes he was receiving and he moved on. He worked hard at practice, but at the end of the day the coach chooses who plays and who doesn’t. He made a decision and again I want to wish him the best of luck.”

Availability of Israel players for Maccabi:

“I think that if Maccabi could find Israeli players who could help the team they would have brought them in, but not every Israeli player can help the club. If a certain player is not here then he’s just not good enough to play at Maccabi Tel Aviv.”

On his status at Maccabi:

“I’m happy here and until something comes up, I am happy to play here and stay with Maccabi.”

Hapoel Beer Sheva:

“We aren’t interested in looking at any other team. We are just concentrating on Maccabi Tel Aviv and this is the only thing that we can control, how we play and how we perform. We can’t do anything with the other clubs.”

Improving:

“We need to improve both our defensive and offensive game and I don’t think that there is any specific major issue, we just have to keep getting better.”

The new recruits, Orlando Sa and Haris Medunjanin:

“I’m sure that he (Orlando) can really help us and he did in the Cup match against Rishon Le’Zion. And Haris Medunjanin will also be a big help here at the club. I hope they will do a great job with the team and I wish them the best of luck.”

On attempting to break the single season goal record :

“I’m not looking at any personal records, right now I’m looking about how we can get out of second place. If I break the record, great. But right now most importantly is to win the upcoming Derby match.”

About the Derby:

“Every Derby is an exciting match, but at the end of the day the Derby is just another match for three points.”

Maccabi Tel Aviv agreed on the release of Gili Vermouth from his contract after repeated requests from the player over the past few months to leave the club.

 Hapoel has already hosted two derbies this year and now it’s finally time for the Yellow-and-Blue to take charge. This coming Sunday at 20:55, Bosz’s club will face the new look Reds as the Dutchman hopes to continue Maccabi’s run of good form against their city rivals.

 10/2 – The Road to the Cup continues at Kfar Saba

 After defeating two Leumit league sides, the defending State Cup Champions will look to continue The Road to the Cup when they visit Hapoel Kfar Saba. The quarterfinal round is set up as a two legged tie with the first match taking place at Levita Stadium next Wednesday at 21:00.

 11/2 – Orlando Sa and Shlomi Azulay meet the fans for the first time

 Shlomi Azulay and Orlando Sa will meet the fans and you just can’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity. The day after you cheered them on in the State Cup, you’re invited to visit the Official Team Store at Cinema City Rishon Le’Zion and meet the brand new striker and midfielder who joined the club this past summer.

 14/2 – Battle at the Diamond City

 On Matchday 23, Maccabi Tel Aviv will visit Maccabi Netanya for a game that will take place on Sunday at 20:30 as the Yellow-and-Blue will look to pick up another win over the Diamond City side at the Netanya Stadium.

 20/2 – Returning to Bloomfield

 Following two away fixtures, Maccabi will return to Bloomfield Stadium when they host Hapoel Haifa on Matchday 24 just as the second round of matches comes to a close.

 24/2 – Kfar Saba and Ramat Gan, Here we come!

 Just before Purim gets into full gear, we’re going to make sure you can dress up in Yellow-and-Blue. Two merchandise stands will be set up at the Ayalon Shopping Center in Ramat Gan and the G Shopping Center in Kfar Saba especially for the holiday. You’ll be able to dress up just like the pros from Maccabi shorts right up to the captain’s armband and of course we will have some masks too! See you at the shopping centers!

25/2 – Gal Alberman and Barak Itzhaki will meet the supporters!
