I’m in the puzzle-Yellow-and-Blue Bloomfield Concert
Even before the opening whistle it was being called the “Match of the Year” as 12,000 fans descended on Bloomfield to enjoy the Yellow-and-Blue display. Just before the return of one of the great games to center stage, you’re invited to take a look back at what was certainly the Match of the Year.

Youth Department Action, Saturday December 19th
Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv – Maccabi “David Asis” Petach Tikva 11:00, Ramle Municipal Stadium
Maccabi’s Under-19 side returns to action after a week break and following the Israel National Team Under-18 Winter Tournament where five Yellow-and-Blue representatives had the opportunity to wear the Blue-and-White. Ziv Arie’s team will take on 6th place Maccabi Petach Tikva just two points behind Maccabi. The club wants to get closer to the top of the league this Saturday following their Champions League Youth League campaign.
Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv – Hapoel “Nir” Ramat HaSharon 11:00, Kiryat Shalom Training Facility
Ori Uzan and Leon Asraf’s charges will look to continue their fine form as they host their Ramat HaSharon counterparts at Kiryat Shalom. Maccabi “Oded” find themselves in first place and will look to extend their lead this coming Saturday.
Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” Tel Aviv – Hapoel “Nir” Ramat HaSharon 11:00, Kiryat Shalom Training Facility
In an additional match between the two clubs at Kiryat Shalom the Under-16 sides of Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Ramat HaSharon will play each other. Eliezer Ben Aharon and Gady Brumer’s team have good momentum going as they are top of their domestic league table.
Maccabi “Eldad” Tel Aviv – Ironi Modiin 10:30, Kiryat Shalom Training Facility
Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Under-15 team will host Ironi Modiin at the training facility. Erez Belfer and his club are in first place and will try to increase their lead on Saturday.
Maccabi Ironi “Yehuda Partush” Petach Tikva – Maccabi “Team 2” Tel Aviv – 08:30, Petach Tikva Training Facility
It a battle for the top spot Ran Elias’s side will take on first place Petach Tikva. The young Yellow-and-Blue can take over first place if they defeat their rivals.
“We’re fighting for the top of the league against them”
Following this morning’s practice at Kiryat Shalom, some of the Maccabi Tel Aviv players hurried to get to a no less important activity, visiting the children at the Oncology Department at Schneider Children’s Hospital. Gal Alberman, Eitan Tibi, Oz Rali and Daniel Lifshitz went over to the hospital to bring gifts from the club and of course spoke with the children and took pictures with them making sure that they all had smiles on their faces.
Gal Alberman spoke to the Official Club Website after the visit and discussed the importance of such activities: “We as a club try to do these types of things on a regular basis. It doesn’t matter if it’s four days before a match, two days before or even one day before a game, we know how to make the distinction and take these activities into proportion.”
His feelings during the visit:
“It’s very emotional, especially since I have a brand new daughter. You see children here that need help and if we can make the situation they are in better we do it with love. We have an obligation as players to help and Maccabi as club is always looking for ways to continue to work on social aspects and also fight against those who want to damage our sport. We as players are proud to be a part of this.”
On the lengthy preparation time the club has to get ready to play Hapoel Beer Sheva:
“On the way to practice this morning I was thinking to myself as to when the last time it was that we had four full days to prepare for just one match and not for other midweek games. The Champions League was no excuse for us. We wanted to be there and once we got there we knew we also had to make sure that we competed in the domestic league. Beforehand we didn’t look at it as an excuse and now we are not looking at it as an advantage, except that now we have four days to get ready for one match and not a series of games.”
Getting ready to do battle with the desert Reds:
“We already played Beer Sheva this year and beat them. We’re fighting for the top of the league against them and the result doesn’t really matter because there is still a long way to go, 66 points if I’m not mistaken. It doesn’t make a difference what happens in this match nothing will be decided. We’ve been in very big situations this season and we don’t want to take this out of proportion. Of course we want to win and improve our standing but we’re not obsessing over this match.”
Bain Announcement regarding Disciplinary Court Decision
Maccabi Tel Aviv FC welcomed the decision of the disciplinary court of the Israel Football Association. Despite the fines, the court chose to recognize and honor the achievements of the club and the ongoing efforts in the fight against violence and racism at the football stadiums.
Chief Executive Officer Martin Bain said in response to the decision:
“We join in voicing support of Judge Noam Lubin and the call for legislative and judicial authorities to take up the challenge and join the fight with increased punishment. In addition, we support the call for legal authorities to step up their enforcement and take strong measures against offenders thereby helping the clubs and not abandoning them as they stand alone in fighting this battle. The court recognized that we invest resources and much effort to ensure that the football stadium is where teams compete on the pitch rather than it be a battleground in the stands. Maccabi Tel Aviv has a large, high quality fan base and will not allow certain individuals harm the reputation of our good fans and the good name of the club.”

Micha & Dasa take part in Special Olympics Program
Maccabi Tel Aviv continued its close work with the community as just last week a group of physically challenged athletes from Rechovot came to tour the Kiryat Shalom Training Facility. While there they met with some of the first team players including Eli Dasa and Dor Micha and played with the two Under-15 teams under the direction of Ran Elias where they also went to various stations to practice their football skills. At the end of the tour and activities the players received gifts from the club.

Ben Harush: “It’s time to focus on the league”
Omri Ben Harush the Yellow-and-Blue left back helped Maccabi to a 2:0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin at Doha Stadium on Matchday Fourteen to open up the second round of WINNER League matches. The win marked the 4th league game in a row that the club has recorded a clean sheet and much credit goes to the defenders:

“It was an important game to begin the second round of matches with a win. We gained some confidence and now we’re going to begin to prepare for next week’s match against Hapoel Beer Sheva.”
The style of play Bnei Sakhnin brought to the table:
“We’ve seen this style of defensive play before from our other opponents over the last few months and we changed up our offense and formation in the second half to better deal with it.”
On playing in the Champions League:
“It was exciting to be a part of the Champions League but course we were a bit disappointed. The main thing is to return to the competition next year but now it’s time to focus on the league.”
