Jordi Cruyff was appointed sports director at Maccabi Tel Aviv on April 4^th, 2012 and joined the club immediately after the end of the 2011/12 season. His first decision as the club’s sports director was to appoint Barcelona Youth Team head coach Oscar Garcia as first team head coach at Maccabi Tel Aviv. He began his playing career with FC Barcelona and enjoyed spells with Manchester United FC, RC Celta de Vigo, Deportivo Alaves, RCD Espanyol, Metalurh Dontesk and Valletta FC, as well as being capped nine times by the Netherlands. Over the past two years, Cruyff was the Director of Football at AEK Larnaca FC where, under his stewardship, the club became the first Cypriot side to qualify for the Europa League group stages. He joined Maccabi Tel Aviv on 13 April 2012.

Goalkeeper Barak Levy, now in his third season on the senior squad, came up through the ranks of the Maccabi Tel Aviv youth system, where he played for every youth team in the division. He was one of the outstanding players in the Maccabi Under-19 squad that won the impressive double in 2010/11 and toward the end of the end of the season also made three appearances for the senior squad. His first appearance came on the 23rd of April 2011 in Maccabi’s 3-1 victory over Ironi Kiryat Shmona, after which he also featured against Bnei Yehuda and Maccabi Haifa.

In the 2011/12 season he vied for first-team honours with Guy Haimov and got his first chance in the third matchweek against Hapoel Rishon Lezion. Nonetheless Haimov remained the team’s first-choice keeper, and Levy was forced to wait until later in season to get his first sustained spell between the senior goalposts, just short of his 19^th birthday. Still, he managed twenty league appearances throughout the season and began to display some of his enormous potential.

He also served as second-choice keeper in the 2012/13 season, this time behind the on-loan Nigerian international Vincent Enyeama. Nonetheless he was able to make a significant contribution to Maccabi Tel Aviv’s first championship season in a decade. During Enyeama’s absence at the African Cup of Nations Levy made seven appearances for the senior squad, conceding only three goals. During that period he saved two penalties, one of them in a 5-0 thrashing of Hapoel Beer Sheva. The second, more significantly, occurred in extra time in an away match against Hapoel Ramat Gan that preserved a one goal Maccabi advantage and secured an important three points for the team’s title race. He also kept a clean sheet in one of the season’s most memorable encounters, Maccabi’s 4-0 derby triumph over Hapoel Tel Aviv on February 2^nd 2013.

Levy has also had the opportunity to show his talents for Israel’s Under-21s, where he made his first appearance in a friendly against Slovakia on May 29^th 2013. He was also included in the squad that hosted the Under-21 European championships in the summer of 2013, though he was kept on the bench for all of the squad’s three group stage matches. His first official appearance came in Young Israel’s impressive 7-2 victory against Azerbaijan in the opening match of the qualifiers for the 2015 Under-21 European championships.

The Brazilian born Jewish goalkeeper joined Maccabi in the summer of 2016 from Flamengo FC where he made his first footsteps at the Youth Academy of the Rio de Janeiro giant club.

In the 2017/18 season, Tenenbaum, made four appearances in the Toto Cup and State Cup, before making his first of five league appearances and a-total-of six outings in all competitions during the latter stages of the 2018/19 campaign.

At the age of 24, Tenenbaum got his break at the start of the 2019/20 season and kept a clean sheet for a staggering 1,272 minutes to set an extra-ordinary Israeli record
