Ofir Davidzada hasn’t been with Maccabi Tel Aviv for very long, but he has certainly been an integral part of Jordi Cruyff’s squad thus far. The left back spoke exclusively to the Official Website after the match about the Yellow & Blue’s next opponent, playing both defense and offense along with summing up the contest that was:

“It certainly wasn’t an easy match. They came out with a lot of desire but we knew how to deal with the game itself and we made sure to keep a clean sheet in the first half as they pushed forward. But then we knew what to do when we are pressured which is to control the ball, find the open spaces and make our plays.”

Living up to expectations:
“I haven’t been here for very long and the expectation was to come in ready to go which is what I understood and what I was prepared for both from the mental and professional side of the game. There is still a difficult road ahead and I’m sure I’ll be able to do what is expected of me.”

Playing defense and offense:
“I told myself that I had to be more aware of my defensive responsibilities which is what has happened so far. But I still enjoy the offensive side of the game which is something that I’ve done for my whole career.

Next up is Panionios:
“It will be a very difficult tie and I don’t know the team or its players yet, but we will be prepared as I’m sure it will be even harder than the first two rounds.”

About Vidar Kjartansson’s family who attended the match:
“I was very surprised by the size of his family and it was amazing how much support they gave all of us. It was really something else and a big honor.”
