April 28, 1995 on Matchday 26 of the Leumit League, Maccabi Tel Aviv hosted Elisha Levy’s Hapoel Beit Shean who were in danger of being relegated. The away team had one goal in mind, go back up north with a point while Avram Grant’s Yellow & Blue side needed a win to stay atop the league.

For 90 minutes Maccabi Tel Aviv pressured Beit Shean but couldn’t find the back of the goal. As the match neared its end, referee Danny Koren added 6 minutes of added time due to substitutions and injuries. How did the contest end? WATCH

During Hanukah in 1969/70 Maccabi had their biggest victory with a 7:0 win over Beitar Tel Aviv. Shalom Shikva scored 4 goals for a Hanukah record in the contest.

The same Shalom Shikva along with Benny Tabak are the all-time leading goal scorers during Hanukah with 6 a piece. Giora Spiegel, Eli Drikes and Avi Nimni each have 5 goals.

Maccabi Tel Aviv has faced Bnei Yehuda 7 times during Hanukah, making them the Yellow & Blue’s most frequent foe during the holiday.

The only comeback victory that Maccabi has recorded during Hanukah was against Ironi Ashdod during the 1993/94 season. Down 1:0, the Yellow & Blue won the game 5:2.

In 1980 on the Fourth Night of Hanukah, Boni Ginzburg made his debut in a 2:1 win over Hapoel Ramat Gan and became the youngest player ever to put on the Maccabi kit.

The fastest goal on Hanukah came in 2013 when Monas Dabbur found the back of the Hapoel Raanana goal after only 37 seconds in a 3:1 win.

March 2014 featured the second Derby of the season as Bloomfield was filled to the rafters for a Derby that will be forever etched the minds of all football fans alike.

Maccabi went ahead 1:0 as Eran Zahavi took advantage of a defensive error by the Reds just four minutes before Rada Prica would be send off. Omer Damari then evened up the score in the 43rd minute as the sides headed into the break all knotted up at 1:1. The Reds continued to press and found a go ahead marker via an 87th minute penalty by Damari as the Hapoel supporters began celebrating their first Derby win of the season. February 2013. Maccabi Tel Aviv came into the contest with Bnei Yehuda after winning the Derby 4:0. The first half ended goalless but in the 52nd minute Rada Prica gave the Yellow & Blue a 1:0 lead thanks in part by Yoav Ziv’s cross. Shelav Menashe drew his side even at 1:1 in the 74th minute as he headed the ball past keeper Barak Levi. Maccabi pressed for the winning goal but Oz Raly shocked the Yellow & Blue with a 90th minute strike for a 2:1 advantage.

While the Orange celebrated, Prica struck gold to tie up the game at 2:2. Orel Grinfeld who didn’t like how Bnei Yehuda wasted time added 9 minutes to the game clock and then Moshiko Lugassi took over…

Maccabi Tel Aviv will play away on Matchday 16 of the Ligat Ha’Al against Beitar Jerusalem and now’s the time to cheer on the Yellow & Blue at Teddy! The match will take place on January 2nd at 21:00 at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem.

Maccabi fans will be seated in the south sections 1, 2, 3. Tickets are also available for the VIP Section and will include light refreshments and a parking pass.

The 2012/13 season was a magical campaign with plenty of dramatic moments. One of those special matches was when Maccabi Tel Aviv played Hapoel Ramat Gan at the Ramat Gan Stadium at the beginning of February 2013. The Yellow & Blue’s first choice keeper, Vincent Eneyema was off at the African Cup of Nations and the young shot stopper Barak Levi was in goal.

On paper, the match should have been a walk in the park for Oscar Garcia and his squad but after a half of football in wintery conditions, Maccabi finally took the lead in the 54th minute thanks to Mahran Radi.
