In response to the IFA’s Disciplinary Court decision, Maccabi Tel Aviv’s CEO Martin Bain said:  “There is no more this club can do in relation to stopping the unnecessary  behaviour of a few individuals intent on bring the club into disrepute – our security costs are far too high trying to control a mindless few people that continue to damage the reputation of the Club and cause issues that effect everyone. We have no option other than to now pursue the individuals in the civil courts as a deterrent.

Time and time again we highlighted the fact that these individuals, who repeatedly keep offending, need to be punished by the courts and not in a trivial manner.

This latest punishment handed down by the IFA’s Disciplinary court effects the club in a number of ways but we acknowledge the courts consideration in recognising our predicament and the effort we make to combat the problem by not issuing a radius match. This would really have punished the team and so many fans just wanting to follow their team.

The amount of communication from season ticket holders and fans alike who have contacted the Club and pledged their support has been overwhelming and is an illustration of the feeling of those who are committed to supporting their team in the right way. Our fans self-policing of the mindless few is the way forward in assisting the Club.

There are three more Matchdays until the end of the second round of the WINNER League and the Yellow-and-Blue find themselves in second place following a 3:1 victory over the Diamond City side at The Moshava Stadium.

Avi Rikan started as a left defensive back and spoke about last night’s game, the position he played in the match, the league schedule and the gap between first and second place: “It was not an easy match. There were minutes where we let Netanya back into the game and score a goal. I’m glad that in the end our attacking qualities helped us to the win. We have players who can score a goal at any moment and during any offensive play. All in all it was a good game by the guys.”

The gap between Maccabi and Beer Sheva:

“A five point difference or anything else doesn’t really matter to us. We just have to take it week by week and do the best that we can in order to take points and end up in the right place at the right time. The schedule will soon change and we will have a chance to play before Beer Sheva does. We’re really not worrying about it right now and we are just taking it day by day.”

Playing as a defender:

“I’ve said many times that I’ll play wherever I’m asked to play. I am part of the team. If I’m needed as a defender, central defender or keeper I’ll do my best to help the team succeed. That’s the only thing that matters.”

We would also like to remind you that entry is for physically challenged fans who use wheelchairs on a regular basis.

On Matchday at the Stadium ticket windows beginning 3 hours prior to the match until 45 minutes after the start of the match.

Peter Bosz’s Yellow-and-Blue defeated Maccabi Netanya away last night 3:1 at the Moshava Stadium and closed the gap with first place Beer Sheva to five points. Striker Eden Ben Basat opened the scoring for the defending champions by putting through his fourth goal of the year over all competitions.

Maccabi’s number 9 who struggled with some pain in the first half said to the Official Website: “I felt some pain in the first half but I didn’t want to come out early because of it. I’m happy that I scored and I’m even more excited because we won. We are now looking ahead and focussing on the Hapoel Haifa match.”

Looking at the point differential to first place:

“We are just preparing and getting ready for the next match and we are working on ourselves to make sure that we give the best possible effort. Our job is to go into every week and do what needs to be done to win the games and only after the match itself will we analyze the difference in points between first and second place.”

The battle with Beer Sheva:

“There is tension and pressure in every match and the fact that we are battling with Beer Sheva is good for the league and for the fans. I hope that the fight goes right down to the wire.”

Tal Ben Chaim started the match on the bench for Maccabi Tel Aviv and saw Netanya draw even with his club early on in the second half. Head Coach Peter Bosz brought the winger in to jump start the offense as number 11 helped Maccabi to the 3:1 victory.

“We’re used to these types of matches where we come to play against teams that try to defend against us. We don’t always score at the beginning of the game and then things get a bit complicated. This time we did score but they tied up the game and it nonetheless put us in a difficult situation. The bottom line is that we won and that’s what we can take from this game.”

The gap between Maccabi and Beer Sheva:

“The fact that the gap grew to 8-points last night was definitely on our minds. Everyone can see that there are two clubs fighting for the title. We are battling against an excellent club that is currently in first place with a nice size lead over us. As soon as we went into this game and we were 8-points down it was clear that we couldn’t lose anymore points. From now on we have to win every match until the end of the year and I’m happy that we were able to do so this evening.”

Coming off of the bench:

“There’s no such thing as being over motivated. Any time you’re on the pitch you’re motivated to win. Today I opened the match on the bench and that was the coach’s decision. I’m happy that I was able to come in and make a difference in the final score.”

On the criticism received after the Derby:

“I was very calm, cool and collected when I made my comments after the Derby and I wasn’t upset like others thought. I knew that there would be criticism. I’m the type of player who tells it like it is. As far as I’m concerned it’s behind me.”

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Dutch Head Coach Peter Bosz discussed his side’s away victory against Maccabi Netanya at the Moshava Stadium on Matchday 23 of the WINNER League. The win moves Maccabi to within five points of table leaders Hapoel Beer Sheva:

“We scored a fantastic goal in the first half but we began the second half very poorly. We turned over the ball a number of times and we didn’t take control. We gave up the tying goal and then we had to fight back. At the end of the day we played better as the half moved along. We then created some more chances to score and then we scored the second and third goals.”

There was an 8-point gap between Maccabi and Beer Sheva prior to the game:

“I don’t know if the gap was testing the players or not. I’m not concentrating on it as it doesn’t do anything for me and I’m not looking at our opponents. We had to win this game and that’s what we did.”

A bout the title fight:

“It’s true that it’s not easy to chase after another team at the top of the table. But Beer Sheva knows we are there and that will effect them as well.”

On  Haris Medunjanin:

“Haris is a player who can create positive situations like the first goal that we scored. It was a terrific assist and a fantastic goal by Eden Ben Basat. He’s fitting right into the club.”

The injury woes:

“I had a short bench but it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. We have enough good players and the quality is more important than the quantity.”

Introducing Tal Ben Chaim in the second half:

“I was very happy with his play today. He really changed the game when he came on. He helped us score one goal and he scored the third goal, so he certainly did his job.”
