Jokanovic: “We must play with passion”
Head Coach Slavisa Jokanovic is readying his side for today’s match against Bnei Yehuda on Matchday 12 at the Netanya Stadium due to the winterization of the Bloomfield Stadium pitch. The coach spoke about how he sees Bnei Yehuda coming into the match especially after succeeding to draw against Beer Sheva last week playing for the counterattack:
יוקאנוביץ’ לקראת המשחק מול בני יהודה
“It complicates things when teams come to play against us that way, though I’m not sure what they will do against us this time. They had a good result against Beer Sheva. It’s our obligation to win the game, attack and take the points. We must play with passion and find a way to score some goals.”
On how Bnei Yehuda played against Beer Sheva last week:
“They played a good game and very well defensively. They tried to counter attack with three players. This could be the type of game we will see from them and I don’t expect to see something new. We will try to score goals but they will be careful defensively. We have to be organized, patient and find a way to score goals. The defense has to be prepared as well.”
Contrasting this match to the Chelsea game:
“Yes and no. You never know, each game is new and we will try to play good football. We have to attack the opposing team and we want to be the best team in Israel. We are obligated to take the risk of playing more offensively but this will be nothing new.”

We all have a match that we’ll never forget about for the rest of our lives. The amazing goal, the big assist and how we jumped out of our seats in excitement when we tied up an impossible game. Beginning today through Sunday, we will look back at three Maccabi Tel Aviv matches from the recent past that no Yellow-and-Blue fan will ever forget.

But if you don’t remember how poorly the match started out, the ray of light just before the end of the first half when Dabbur scored or the huge assist Eneyema had on Colautti’s winning goal, then click the link and watch the video. Take a seat, relax and enjoy one of the great Yellow-and-Blue comebacks from the past few years.

Vermouth: “We’ll be ready for battle”
The Yellow-and-Blue return to Winner League action on Matchday 12 against Bnei Yehuda in a home match that is taking place at the Netanya Stadium on Sunday at 20:55 due to the winterization of the Bloomfield pitch. Midfielder Gili Vermouth spoke about the upcoming match as he contrasted it to the last time the club played Bnei Yehuda in Toto Cup action:
גילי ורמוט: “חוזרים למציאות שלנו”
“When we played Bnei Yehuda in the Toto Cup we had a very short squad and this will be a totally different match as it’s a league game. It will be a tough challenge and they played very well last week against Beer Sheva. We’ll be ready for battle.”
Playing more attractive football:
“There’s no question that in some matches this year we didn’t show our best qualities. We did win some games in which we didn’t play well, but we want to show more attractive football.”
The logjam at the top of the table:
“Every match is important and we want to take three points. Right now the table is very tight with Beer Sheva and Beitar Jerusalem right behind us and this match is crucial. Winning and taking points now will help us breathe easier later on in the year.”
Many teams are counting on counterattacks:
“We don’t like it when the opposing teams close up the pitch and play for a counter attack against us. We saw this last week when we played Hapoel Haifa and Bnei Yehuda may play like this as well so we have to be prepared. We always want to score as many goals as we can in each match and give up as few as possible or even none.”
His desire to score:
“It’s most important that the team wins but it would be nice if I would finally score a goal as well and hand out some assists also.”
