2002/03: Maccabi Haifa 2:3 Maccabi Tel Aviv
One of the finest moments that helped turn the campaign into a championship season came during Matchday 14. Nir Klinger’s Yellow & Blue had a rough start to the year as Maccabi came into the contest at Kiryat Eliezer Stadium. TV announcer Yoram Arbel began his telecast by saying that the fans who accompanied the Yellow & Blue are hoping for a miracle to stay in the battle for the championship. Due to the recent results, Klinger decided to change up the lineup and benched the Club’s star Avi Nimni which received plenty of criticism in the press. But this match became a turning point for the season and after 90 hard fought minutes, Maccabi left Haifa with a 3:2 win and they were on their way.

2013/14: Hapoel Tel Aviv 2:3 Maccabi Tel Aviv
Some claim that this was the most dramatic Tel Aviv Derby in history. Eran Zahavi gave Maccabi the lead in the 34’ but four minutes later Rada Prica was issued a red card as Omer Damari helped the Reds draw even just before the break. Hapoel then took the lead thanks to a Damari penalty in the 87’ and their fans began to celebrate. However, a couple of minutes later, Tel Ben Chaim came off the bench and drew a penalty that Zahavi promptly converted. Finished? Not just yet. Deep into injury time Orel Dagani lost the ball in the middle of the pitch, Sheran Yeini sent it to Barak Badash who passed it to Zahavi as number 7 beat Boris Kleyman on the final shot of the match. The celebrations in Gate 11 began as Paulo Sousa and Gal Alberman sprinted towards them as the match entered the Maccabi pantheon.
