Against the backdrop of a complex period and the ongoing security situation, the players of the Kfar Aza arrived at Kiryat Shalom. Among those who played were also Gali and Ziv Berman, who returned after 738 days of Hamas captivity in Gaza, and featured in the match.
The football team from Kfar Aza has become a symbol of resilience following the events of October 7th. Many of its players lost loved ones or are part of bereaved families, yet the team continues to play and operate as a way of coping, community support, and remembrance. They take part in exhibition matches and amateur leagues.

The Kfar Aza side faced Maccabi’s veterans team, featuring former players such as Sheran Yeini, Eyal Golasa, Tal Ben Haim, Amir Shelach, Avi Rikan, Moshe Mishaelof, and Carlos Chacana.

Former referee Eyal Tzur officiated the match that ended with a 4-1 victory for Maccabi’s veterans as Avi Rikan (2), Carlos Chacana, and Amiran Shkalim scored the goals.
