Maccabi Shachar Blanked 2-0 in Kiev

In freezing cold temperatures, Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv fell to Dynamo Kiev 2:0 on the last Matchday of the Champions League Youth League. Nadav Amram made his Under-19 debut and was in the starting lineup.AQ7A1395

The game began with the hosts controlling the first half as both sides tried to play the ball from one side of the pitch to the other with little accuracy. Maccabi “Shachar” fell behind in the 19th minute when Bogdan Mykhaylichenko’s strong effort was diverted to the post by Ran Vaturi and the rebound was put into the goal by Ivan Kaliuzhnyi for a 1:0 Kiev lead. The Ukrainian side continued to control the pace for the majority of the first half with Maccabi’s counter attacks not bearing any fruits on the other side of the pitch as the teams headed into halftime with Dynamo ahead.

Head Coach Ziv Arie opened the second half by making his first substitute of the match introducing Eylon Almog. However, Kiev would score a second goal to double their lead when Viktor Tsygankov broke down the right side and beat Yellow-and-Blue keeper Haviv Ohayon with a hard shot to salt away the 2:0 victory.

Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv defeated Kiryat Shemona 1:0 on Saturday at the Ramle Stadium for an important win and 3-points. The Yellow-and-Blue won their second straight game just before they head out to the Ukraine for Matchday Six of the Champions League Youth League where they will play Dynamo Kiev:

“We played an excellent first half at a very high level. If I would have imagined at night how I wanted my team to look, this was exactly how. With rhythm and tempo. I knew that we wouldn’t be able to keep up the pace from the beginning of the game and that Kiryat Shemona would make adjustments so we needed to finish off the half with a two goal lead. Unfortunately it didn’t happen as it hasn’t the whole season because we are a young team up front and we ended up having a very difficult second half. We were saved by a miracle and I wasn’t to pleased about that. We created enough chances and we have plenty to continue working on but we ultimately deserved to win.”

The final match against Dynamo Kiev:

“I’ll have to relax the players. We may have a rough time against them because this is the Champions League and we don’t know when we’ll have this opportunity again. Kiev needs the points and we have a good chance, but the footballers know that this is the last match and they’ll have to work hard just like its the first game. Even though we are not advancing, a win in Kiev will be something etched in their memories forever.”

Israeli league play:

“We can’t look up in the standings after the amount of points we’ve collected. Following the Champions League time will tell. If we can continue to pick up wins everything will work out for us, but for right now we can’t look past the upcoming Saturday.”

Maccabi Shachar wins 1-0 prior to Kiev trip

It wasn’t easy, but Maccabi “Shachar” picked up another victory in the Winner Youth League defeating Kiryat Shemona at home in the Ramle Stadium. The Yellow-and-Blue struggled throughout the match but were able to collect the three points on a perfectly placed 80th minute penalty by Tomer Altman. The club will head to Kiev on Monday for the last Matchday of the Champions League Youth League.

Maccabi began the match well as already in the second minute Dor Galili had a marvelous chance from 16 meters out coming in from the right side. Their domination continued for the majority of the first half with an Eden Karzev 25 meter chance being saved by Eliran Gabbay in the 20th minute. Galili had another excellent opportunity in the 40th minute but the Kiryat Shemona keeper was in the right place at the right332A6427 time yet again. Maccabi “Shachar” had their best chance in the 43rd minute when Karzev and Gaby Kanichowsky led the attack with the latter handing the ball off to Or Dasa who missed from in close. Dasa and Almog’s header opportunities in the
half’s final seconds were swatted away by Gabby keeping the first 45 minutes scoreless as the players headed into the break.

The second half started with no substitutions from either side. Kiryat Shemona began to get into the game and had the first chance of the half as Haviv Ohayon would bat away a corner from the right side. Yellow-and-Blue head coach Ziv Arie made a double substitution in the 65th minute bringing on Tomer Altman and Omri Haramati while Mahmoud Al Awesat joined them on the pitch two minuets later.

Haramati supplied Dasa with another wonderful ball but the midfielder again couldn’t find the back of the goal in the 69th minute. However, ten minutes later 332A6449Maccabi “Shachar” picked up a penalty when Maksim Grechkin was pulled down in the visitors box. Tomer Altman coolly converted from 11 meters out to give the home side a 1:0 lead that they would hold onto until the final whistle. Idan Yogev and Amit Shapira also featured for Maccabi “Shachar” in the win.

Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv – Hapoel Kiryat Shemona, 11:00 Ramle Municipal Stadium

After an away victory in Jerusalem, Maccabi “Shachar” returns to the Ramle Stadium to host Kiryat Shemona on Matchday 9 of the Youth Winner League. The Yellow-and-Blue’s Northern opponent are two places behind Maccabi but only one point separates the two sides. The match will be the first match in a very busy week for Maccabi “Shachar” as they fly to Kiev on Monday evening prior to playing Dynamo on Wednesday.

Ori Uzan and Leon Asraf’s team wants to make sure they continue their eight game winning streak as they will look to take three points away against Ashdod.

Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” Tel Aviv – Gadna “Roni” Tel Aviv, 8:30 Kiryat Shalom Training Facility

The “Match of the Week” will feature a showdown between coach Eliezer Ben Aharon and his Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” team against Gadna which is coached by his son Elad. The Under-16 side has been playing very well of late and a win on Saturday should move them to the top of the table.

With five wins in a row, Maccabi “Eldad” will look to extend their winning streak when they host Hapoel Kiryat Ono at home.

The second Under-15 club will also host a match Maccabi Barkai at the Kiryat Shalom Training Facility after defeating the Nesher club last week.

Hapoel Beer Sheva 2:3 Maccabi “Oded” Tel Aviv

The Under-17 didn’t wilt after losing an early 1:0 lead on a goal by Ron Zamir by giving up two goals in the first half and going into halftime with a 2:1 deficit. Ori Uzan and Leon Asraf’s side came back to win by scoring a pair of goals in the second half by Sahar Sa’adon and Yarden Shoa.

Ironi Modiin 0:3 Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” Tel Aviv

Eliezer Ben Aharon an Gady Brumer’s Maccabi “Eli Fuchs” also recorded an away victory in Modiin defeating the hosts 3:0 on goals by Tamir Glazer, Gil Rachimi and Danny Amar.

Hapoel Beer Sheva 0:2 Maccabi “Eldad” Tel Aviv

The Yellow-and-Blue youth department picked up a second win over Beer Sheva, this time 2:0 on goals by Gil Ben Shalosh and Osher Davida and launched the club into first place on the table.

Maccabi’s second Under-15 club also won, defeating Nesher at Kiryat Shalom on a lone goal by Asaf Hershko.

Maccabi returned to Winner League play in a big way defeating Bnei Yehuda 4:0 on Matchday 12. The Yellow-and-Blue enjoyed a flawless team match with Shlomi Azulay scoring his first goal for the club while also picking up a pair of assists on Eran Zahavi goals. The midfielder spoke about his performance, the hard work he is putting in during practice and his relationship with Zahavi:

“I’ve waited for a match like this for a long time. I’m happy that I was able to prove myself worthy today for the club and the terrific fans.”

On the style of game Bnei Yehuda played today:

“They were able to stuff up the midfield in the first half but in the second we were finally able to score and that ended opening up the match. My performance today will give me confidence but most importantly for me is to continue being modest and to work hard at practice. To run a lot and give everything I’ve got for the club is a lot more important that how many goals I will score. When I arrived at Maccabi I knew that there would be a lot of competition. I didn’t walk into Beitar as a star. I worked hard and I got a chance. It’s the same way at Maccabi.”332A5835-2

“The goals and assists are always dedicated in memory of my father. Everything I have done in my career is dedicated to him.”

Moving back into first place on the table:

Maccabi “Shachar” defeats Beitar Jerusalem 3-0

After a number of tough matches in league play, Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv defeated Beitar Jerusalem 3:0 on goals by Eylon Almog, Eden Karzev and Mahmoud Alawesat. The Yellow-and-Blue controlled the tempo and were able to convert their chances in the second half for the victory.

Head Coach Ziv Arie gave two players their debut in Winner League action against Beitar Jerusalem as Eden Karzev and Noam Cohen were part of the starting XI for Maccabi “Shachar”. Chen Ozeri made his second straight start in goal and made a number of solid saves early on in the first half with the hosts applying pressure. Wearing their blue away kit, the young AQ7A9664Yellow-and-Blue began dictating the pace of the match. Eden Karzev’s smart chance was saved by Beitar ‘keeper Tamir Lalo and
Omri Haramati missed a wonderful chance when he misguided the rebound to keep the match scoreless at halftime.

Amit Rosenboim and Gaby Kanichowsky came on at the beginning of the second half in order to ignite the Maccabi offense for coach Arie and the opportunities began to flow. A tough error by the Beitar keeper landed right on the foot of Eylon Almog who made no mistake with the gifted ball and slammed it home for a 1:0 lead in the 56th minute. Soon thereafter the Yellow-and-Blue doubled the score when Eden Karzev received a magnificent ball from Almog and pounded it home for the 2:0 lead. Maccabi “Shachar” continued to press Beitar and added an insurance marker when Mahmoud Alawesat scored the first goal of his Maccabi career and top off a 3:0 win

Beitar “Oren” Jerusalem – Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv, 12:00, Bayit Vegan

After falling to Chelsea this week, Maccabi “Shachar” will play Beitar Jerusalem away in an attempt to get back on the winning track. Ziv Arie’s team hasn’t been able to win over the past three Matchdays and will look to put an end to that streak in the Capital against a Jerusalem side that sits in 12th place, winning in its last game against Kiryat Shemona at home.

Ori Uzan and Leon Asraf’s Under-17 club gets back to league play after a break with a perfect 7-0 record since the beginning of the season. The young Yellow-and-Blue will be in search of their eighth win in a row and increase their league leading point total against their southern counterparts.

The Under-16 side will try to keep up the positive momentum and search for their fifth straight win. For this to occur Eliezer Ben Aharon and Gady Brumer’s team will need to top Ironi Modiin away.

After advancing to the next round of the State Cup, Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Under-15 side will visit Hapoel Beer Sheva with both teams tied on points with 12.

Maccabi’s second Under-15 team will play away as they visit Nesher. The young Yellow-and-Blue haven’t lost since Matchday One and will look to keep undefeated streak intact this Saturday.

Maccabi Shachar fall 4-0 to Chelsea

Maccabi “Shachar” Tel Aviv faced the Chelsea Under-19 team in Champions League Youth League action on Matchday Five at the Netanya Stadium. Ziv Arie’s side was looking to earn its first victory in the competition against the defending tournament champions.

The young Yellow-and-Blue held their own against Chelsea for the first quarter hour until Bar Galili’s foul in the box on Miro Muheim resulted in a penalty that Tammy Abraham coolly converted for a 1:0 lead. Just minutes later, at the 19 minute mark, Charlie Wakefield doubled the visitors lead. The attacking midfielder went in alone on goal and slotted the ball under Maccabi “Shachar” keeper Haviv Ohayon. Chelsea added to their lead before the end of the half when Kyle Scott pounced on a rebound just after Ohayon made a terrific stop.

Coach Ziv Arie made a couple of substitutions at halftime inserting Almog Eylon and Dor Galili to help out the Maccabi “Shachar” attack and the Yellow-and-Blue began controlling the tempo of the match. An additional substitution was made in the 63rd minute when Omri Haramati entered the game. However, a Karzev free kick and corner along with an Altman corner kick couldn’t find the mark to get the home side on the scoresheet.

After a number of outstanding saves by keeper Ohayon, including one from a long range shot by Ali Muktar that was tapped over the bar, Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham picked up his second goal of the match in the 86th minute with the help of a Charlie Wakefield assist to cement the 4:0 victory.

Glazer: “Chelsea’s the best team in Europe”

Just prior to the huge Champions League day ahead, Maccabi’s youth team is busy preparing in earnest for their encounter with the Under-19 side of Chelsea. Maccabi “Shachar” will take on Chelsea at the Netanya Stadium, 14:00 and all fans are invited to come and support the club as there is no charge for admission.

The club’s captain, Dan Glazer spoke to the Official Website before the crucial game on Matchday Five of the Champions League Youth League and discussed preparing for the defending European champions: “We have a match to say the least that won’t be easy. Chelsea is the best team in Europe for our age group. We won’t be dominant in this match as we are in our Israeli league games. We will have to be strong, aggressive and focussed on our counterattacks with the hope of taking advantage of these situations.”

 On the club’s first match with the Blues:

 “They were much better than us in the first game and that was also our first ever in this competition. At the start of that match we were able to play with them. They are a team with a lot of amazing individual abilities and talents that will be hard to measure up against. I’m certain though that our professional staff will prepare us properly for the match.”

The side’s aspirations:

“We really want to win but we also know that it won’t be easy. We never come into a match looking to play for a draw or to get a nice type of result. This will be a different type of game than we have in league play and we will have to do things the best way possible.”
