MICHA SIGNS AT MACCABI TILL 2021

Dor Micha extended his contract at Maccabi Tel Aviv after signing a new four-year-deal until 2021 with the club having an option to extend by a further year

Micha, 25, told the club’s official website: “This is an emotional and exciting moment for me to extend my contract by four more years. As a player who made his senior debut at Maccabi eight years ago I dreamed of wearing the club’s famous Yellow strip, and won 6 trophies and many achievements in Europe today I fulfilled my dream to ensure a minimum of 12 years at the senior squad”.

Maccabi’s CEO Ben Mansford added: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured Dor Micha for potentially the next five years at Maccabi Tel Aviv. Dor is a product of our successful youth department and is one of our own. It was very important to ensure that Dor remains part of Maccabi’s present but more importantly the future. Dor has recently worn the captain’s armband and I look forward to him continuing to take on a senior role in the squad while we keep on challenging for titles”.

Number 13 also spoke about bringing back former teammate Carlos Garcia as an assistant coach, the squad’s recent run of play and the match that was at Acre:

“We could have made it easier, but we are improving, creating more chances and picking up clean sheets.”

More about the match:
“We almost gave up a goal and we felt that we had to make sure that we didn’t give up a goal. We stayed back a bit and we didn’t take risks trying to get a second goal. We wanted the game to end well.”

Looking back at the contest at Beer Sheva:
“The match at Beer Sheva was not great and we had to figure out how to get back to normal. We had to pick up our aggressiveness and we had many games over the last while, but we also had to begin to get together as a team outside of football.”

The addition of Carlos Garcia:
“A number of good things have happened to us, one after another and it allowed us to give more and more. Carlos is a role model and he is tough and intelligent. He knows where we need to focus and he’s not just a good addition but a phenomenal one. He gives us spirit, faith and confidence. He can see things in each and every player and is already influencing the team in such a positive way.”

Having Carlos involved with the team on the pitch during practices:
“Many assistant coaches play with the guys in training and it’s great to have that connection with him on the pitch as well.”

About the competitiveness of the league:
“The league is very good and there are no easy matches. We have to be prepared for each and every match this season.”

The State Cup match against Bnei MMBE:
“There are no easy matches, State Cup or any other tournament. We have to be prepared and anything can happen, that’s why there are Cinderellas.”

“Dor Peretz once again was the best player on the pitch for the 4th or 5th match in a row and he deserves a ton of credit.”

Micha: “We made our lives difficult”

Dor Micha, the Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder looked back at the 1:0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin on Matchday 16 of the Israel Premier League Ligat Ha’Al:

“It wasn’t simple and we made our lives difficult. We created many chances, especially in the first half. If the ball would have gone into the goal it would have been much easier. I’m happy we took the points against a team that although aren’t playing at home, always gives us a tough time. These are important points.”

Knowing how to kill off a match:
“We need to know how to kill off matches after we score the first goal. We’ve already lost points against teams that we shouldn’t have. We are creating chances but we aren’t taking advantage of them. We have to improve.”
