Maccabi Tel Aviv FC is happy to announce that season tickets for the 2017/18 season will go on sale this evening Monday July 3rd at 19:00 to the general public via the Leaan Website and by telephone *8780 and the Leaan Ticket Office.

Season ticket holder benefits include:

• Ticket to the Europa League second round match (should the club advance to the next stage)
• Priority to purchase tickets to select matches throughout the season
• Receive full points for the New Points System

Sales are limited to 3 season tickets in total per transaction, with each season ticket being allocated to each person. i.e. One season ticket per person only.

Should you purchase 2 season tickets the system will ask you to submit information for the additional season ticket holder.

Season tickets will be available for pickup at the box office on the Europa League Matchday (the exact location will be publicized closer to the date, should the club advance to the next stage). It is recommended to pickup the season tickets in advance to avoid long lines and delays at the box office.

Over 9,000 fans renewed their season tickets for the upcoming campaign over the past month and will be able to cheer Maccabi on from their seats at the Netanya Stadium as they battle for all of the titles.

July 6: Tirana – Maccabi Tel Aviv, 18:00 Selman Stërmasi Stadium
After a 2:0 home victory in the first leg of the first round of Europa League qualifying, the Yellow & Blue head to Albania’s capital Tirana for the return match as Maccabi’s goal is to advance to the next round.

July 13: Maccabi Tel Aviv – Reykjavík/SJK
Should Maccabi move on to the second round they will face either Reykjavík from Iceland or SJK of Finland with the first leg to be played in Israel. The first match between the two sides ended in a goalless draw.

July 14: Europa League Third Round Qualifying Draw
Even before the second round comes to an end the draw for the third round will take place. If Maccabi advances to that round they will be drawn against an unranked club and will avoid the likes of Zenit St. Petersburg, Athletic Bilbao, PSV Eindhoven and many others.

July 20: Reykjavík/SJK – Maccabi Tel Aviv, return leg

July 27: Europa League Third Round First Leg

July 30: Maccabi Tel Aviv – Bnei Yehuda, 21:00 Netanya
Maccabi will begin their domestic season while they are still attempting to qualify for the group stages of the Europa League and will face Bnei Yehuda in the First Round of the Toto Cup. Just as a reminder, Maccabi’s last Israeli match was against the same team in the 2016/17 State Cup Final.

Maccabi-Class: Paint your classroom Yellow & Blue!
The summer vacation may have begun and the kids are outside enjoying the weather, but you would like to get them ready for the new school year, correct? Back to School items are arriving at the Official Stores in July, the Online Shop and the Pop-Up Shop at Azrieli. Notebooks, folders, binders, pens and knapsacks will put a big smile on the faces of all of your “players” and one on yours as well.

Over the course of the summer until the end of August, you’ll be able to purchase all kinds of Official Maccabi Tel Aviv products at the Pop-Up Shop at the Azrieli Shopping Center. The shop is located on the 1st Floor right by the ALDO Shoe Store.

In November 1984, Maccabi Tel Aviv hosted Maccabi Petah Tikva at Bloomfield Stadium. Itzhak Shneor’s lineup featured a young midfielder by the name of Micky Cohen. In the 30th minute, Cohen received the ball on the left, cut to the right and from 17 meters launched a perfect strike into the corner for the first goal of the match.

Years later, Micky’s son, Yonatan Cohen almost recreated the exact same goal that his father had scored giving the Yellow & Blue a 1:0 lead against Tirana in a 2:0 victory. Watch the highlights of both goals and vote for the one you liked the most

Yonatan Cohen couldn’t have had a better debut in Yellow & Blue as number 24 who was celebrating his birthday scored in his first match wearing the Maccabi Tel Aviv jersey:

“There’s now question it’s a great way to celebrate my birthday with my teammates at Maccabi Tel Aviv. It was great to score and I’ll remember this for many years to come.”

Working hard:
“The last 2 seasons I was out on loan and I worked very hard. I always believed that this moment would finally come and it did against Tirana when I was in the Starting XI and I’m happy that I grabbed the opportunity with both hands. But it doesn’t end here as I still have to work very hard. The battle here is not just to feature in the starting lineup but to get into the 18 players who can be in the squad for the match.”

Omer Atzily made his official Yellow & Blue debut against KF Tirana in the first leg Europa League first round qualifying. The midfielder played 72 minutes in the 2:0 win and summed up his Club’s performance:

“I was excited and I think we had a decent performance. I expect a lot from myself and I’m already looking forward to the next match.”

Expectations:
“I’m concentrating on myself, I feel good and I hope that I’ll be able to contribute a lot of Maccabi then season. That’s what I expect from myself. From a fitness point of view I feel that I’m fine. Slowly but surely and in every match I’ll keep improving and I can’t wait to really help out the club. I didn’t have an easy season last year. I’m happy to return and it’s my responsibility to prove myself. I hope that I’ll be able to do just that.”

The return leg:
“We recorded an important win. 2:0 is a good result, but it will be difficult in Albania. I hope and I believe that we will advance to the next round.”

Jordi Cruyff, the Yellow & Blue Head Coach addressed the assembled media following his side’s 2:0 victory over Tirana. The boss discussed attacking down both sides of the pitch, players integrating and about the match itself:

“I think we lacked a little bit of energy and we were tired after 30 minutes. The last 20 minutes of the match was hard for the team to run and we lost two easy balls. That made it harder for us.”

Improving going forward:
“I think we will improve and we will get some freshness back. The team will then obviously look better and better. For a first game I can’t complain as the full squad was only training together for one week. We performed well for the first game. Maybe if we would have scored a third goal it would have given us a better feeling going to Albania next week.”

Players integrating into the squad:
“It’s a question of integration and what we expect for each position. Some suffered from tiredness, but it will take time. Cohen showed that he is ready for the next step. One of his main qualities is that he knows how to get into the box in the right moments.”

About Sheran Yeini:
“I thought he was one of the players that kept balance to the team and was one of the better players.”

Planning:
“This game helps to analyze and you learn more from mistakes more than good things. Whatever we need to do to get the squad better we will do and follow what we planned a few weeks ago. We are in a good strategical situation going ahead.”

Attacking down the left side with Davidzada:
“We didn’t want our left back last year to disturb Tal Ben Chaim’s dribbles and now we may want to open up on the left and not as much as we did in the past on the right.”

The Yellow & Blue won the first leg of their first round Europa League qualifier at the Netanya Stadium 2:0 thanks to goals by Yonatan Cohen and Eli Dasa. The return leg will take place next Thursday, July 6th in Tirana, Albania.

Head Coach Jordi Cruyff’s Starting XI included Serbian keeper Predrag Rajikovic with a defensive quartet of Eli Dasa, Tal Ben Haim, Eitan Tibi and Ofir Davidzada in front of him. Manning the midfield was Captain Sheran Yeini, Shlomi Azulay and Eyal Golasa while Omer Atzily, Yonatan Cohen and Vidar Kjartansson providing the attack.

Available on the bench were keeper Daniel, Yuval Shpungin, Barak Itzhaki, Dor Peretz, Eliel Peretz, Egor Filipenka and Aaron Schoenfeld.

First Half
A nice run by Dasa and Atzily came up empty in the 5th minute as Azulay fanned in the box early on. In the 19th minute Kjartansson turned in the area but couldn’t get a shot off as Maccabi continued to control the pace of the contest. Four minutes later, Dasa swung a magnificent ball into the box but Cohen’s header went wide of the goal as the score remained 0:0.

Atzily tried his luck from long distance on his off wing but the ball just skipped by the right post in the 25th minute. However, the Yellow & Blue made sure to find the back of the goal two minutes later as Cohen slammed home the ball from 20 meters out for the 1:0 lead. The Icelander left the ball for the youngster and the new number 24 knew how to find the far corner.

The hosts almost doubled their advantage two minutes later when Davidzada left the ball for Kjartansson but the Tirana keeper made a kick save while in the 37th minute Davidzada’s sharp angled chance was pulled in by the Albanian shot stopper Lika. Tirana had a chance in the 44th minute as a give and go between Hoxhallari and Sentamu was stopped by Rajikovic as the sides headed into the break with Maccabi holding a 1:0 advantage.

Second Half
Maccabi looked to add to their lead early on but Kjartansson’s header just missed the goal off of an Atzily corner in the 53rd minute while Azulay’s 18 meter chance also came up short 4 minutes later.

But Eli Dasa would break the second half ice with a terrific strike in the 64th minute. Kjartansson gave Davidzada a wonderful pass who in turn sent the ball to a streaking Dasa off of the right side of the pitch who put the ball home for a 2:0 advantage. Following the goal, Eliel Peretz came on in place of Eyal Golasa, in the 72nd minute Barak Itzhaki was introduced for Omer Atzily and six minutes later Cruyff made his club’s final substitution bringing on Aaron Schoenfeld in favor of Vidar Kjartansson.

In the 85th minute Itzhaki sent Davidzada a nice pass who crossed it into the box, but Cohen’s attempt bounced over the goal as the score remained 2:0 for the Yellow & Blue. Three minutes later the Tirana captain Karabeci almost pulled a goal back but his chance just went by the right post as Maccabi wrapped up a 2:0 win with the second leg taking place in Tirana, Albania next Thursday, July 6th.
