Seating Arrangements for the Upper East Stand Tirana Match

Due to the penalty handed down by UEFA on February 23rd, portions of the UPPER EAST STAND will be closed for Maccabi Tel Aviv’s next home European match (against Tirana on Thursday June 29, 2017) and the seating arrangement for season ticket holders in these sections will change.

The penalty was levied against the Club due to racist calls from this area of the stadium during the home match against Dundalk from Ireland in the Europa League Group Stage and was indicated as such in the UEFA Observer’s report.

UPPER EAST STAND season ticket holders will need to choose an alternative location for the upcoming match against Tirana from Albania. You will be unable to enter the stadium with a regular season ticket card and will need to bring the ticket that will be sent via email to the stadium.

Season ticket holders may choose to sit in sections 601, 602, 608, 609 (entrance via GATE 22B) and once those are filled sections 201, 202 (entrance via Gate B3)
Over the course of the today, season ticket holders in the UPPER EAST STAND will receive an SMS with a link to purchase a ticket. Please purchase the ticket for 0-FREE prior to the match in order to avoid issues at the stadium on Matchday.

Maccabi Tel Aviv in Memory of Meir Nimni z”l

Maccabi Tel Aviv FC would like to express its deepest condolences on the loss of Mei Nimni z”l one of the Club’s great form the 1970’s. Nimni passed away last night after a battle with cancer.

In memory of Nimni we encourage fans and friends to learn more about one of the Yellow & Blue’s finest by reading about his life and times below.

Meir Nimni – z”l – 1948-2017

Maccabi Tel Aviv featured some terrific defensive midfielders that were at the top of Israeli football. One of them was no doubt Meir Nimni who joined the Yellow & Blue in 1968/69 at the age of 21 from Beitar Ramle and made his debut against Beitar Jerusalem that same campaign.

Nimni became a rock in the middle of the Maccabi Tel Aviv midfield and earned a spot in the Starting XI becoming one of the fan favorites. He scored his first goal in a 3:0 win over Hapoel Jerusalem and found the back of the goal once again on the final Matchday of the season against Shimshon Tel Aviv. Nimni also took part in one of the Club’s most historical moments when they captured the Asia Cup as he played in all of the matches including the 1:0 win over Yangzee FC from South Korea.

In his second season, Nimni continued to collect titles and took home the Double while appearing in 27 contests including the 5:0 Derby win over Hapoel Tel Aviv in 1970.

Nimni was known as a versatile player who was able to adapt himself to any role that he needed to play on the pitch while doing so with a considerable amount of talent. Over the course of 13 season with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Nimni scored 27 goals, won four league titles, captured two Asia Cups as well as two State Cups.

Outstanding Match:
One of the most amazing matches that Meir Nimni took part of was undoubtedly the 1970 Derby when Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv 5:0. Nimni was a very important member of the squad and was in the Starting XI for this historic contest – January 1, 1970.

Toto Cup: Maccabi to face Bnei Yehuda on Matchday 1

On July 29th the whistle will sound to start the 2017/18 domestic campaign with Matchday 1 of the Toto Cup. The match calendar was drawn at the Netanya Stadium and the Yellow & Blue will play in Group B with Maccabi Petah Tikva, Hapoel Raanana, Bnei Yehuda and Maccabi Netanya.

Maccabi will take on Bnei Yehuda on Matchday 1:

Mark it down: Opening the season against Beitar Jerusalem

The 2017/18 Ligat Ha’Al Premier League will open in August as the fixtures were determined today via a draw that was held at the Netanya Stadium. Matchday 1 will take place on August 19th and following Matchday 2 the league will take a break for National Team contests. The final Matchday of the season will take place on May 20-21, 2018.

Maccabi will begin the campaign by hosting Beitar Jerusalem at the Netanya Stadium and will also welcome Maccabi Haifa on September 23rd. They will play away at Beer Sheva on Matchday 8, October 21st.

Atzily: “I was really excited & I’m happy we played well”

Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated Spartak Trnava from Slovakia 3:0 as they prepare for Thursday night’s Europa League first round qualifying contest against Tirana at the Netanya Stadium. Omer Atzily made his Yellow & Blue debut and spoke about the match that was:

“It’s great to play and come back. I was really excited before the match since it was my first game. I’m happy we played well, looked good and picked up a good result as we prepare for the match on Thursday.”

Personal reflections on his own play:
“I felt good and I had a good game. I hope it will continue like this as I really enjoyed myself.”

Veteran defender Tal Ben Haim also got back into game play as he commented about the match and its high points:

“I feel good and it’s great to come back and win. We’re still in the beginning stages, but little by little we are gaining steam for Thursday night’s match.”

Highlights from the match:
“The goals were great, Vidar’s, Atzily’s and Aaron’s, but Yuval’s bicycle kick was the highlight of the match.”

Head Coach Jordi Cruyff had a full squad at his disposal including the new signings, Omer Atzily and Ofir Davidzada along with the National Team players who arrived at camp this week. Atzily made his Yellow & Blue debut in the Starting XI.

Maccabi put pressure on Spartak from the get go as Sagiv Yehezkel, Shlomi Azulay and Vidar Kjartansson had numerous chances early on. Azulay hit the post twice as Kjartansson pounced on the rebound of the second one to score in the 38th minute.

Ofir Davidzada made his Tel Aviv debut in the second half and in the 56th minute Atzily scored his first goal as he put away a rebound from 5 meters out to give the Yellow & Blue a 2:0 advantage. In the 90th minute, Aaron Schoenfeld joined the goal parade after he took a beautiful header pass by Yonatan Cohen and buried the ball behind the Slovakian side’s keeper for a 3:0 victory.

Mitch Goldhar arrived at Training Camp & the players celebrated Shabbat

Maccabi Tel Aviv continued their preparations for the upcoming season at their Austrian Training Camp. On Friday, the Club had another session before owner Mitch Goldhar arrived in Laa while in the evening the team got together for a festive Shabbat meal.
